Surgery 1 year Ago on my broken Ankle

When I was in basic training with the CAF I jumped off a wall on an obstacle course in a new pair of boots. At first my foot hurt a bit, over the day it got worse but I figured "it's just the new boots, it'll go away". Oh was I wrong... The next evening I'm limping badly back to my room, practically crawling up the stairs, the guy that had been assigned as my fire team partner (person you always look out for, help, and are practically responsible for) grabbed me some ice for what we through was a sprained ankle, then came the adventure of taking off my boot. Had to completely take the laces out to get it off and my whole foot is swollen like I have never seen and bruised all over. I get convinced to go to sick parade on day three, only because I couldn't do up my running shoes for morning PT. They test my movements and do some x-rays, then I am being taken to an office where they are arranging appointments with the larger civilian hospital for more tests. The next day I'm out in the city for the tests (so glad to be off base I treated myself to cheesecake), when I meet one of the doctors on base the day after to get my test results I found out my right foot and ankle has 6 distinct fractures. I was put in a walking boot, and wheelchair, with crutches for when I couldn't wheel around. A week in the wheelchair, then two on crutches, another 5 just in the boot before three more back on crutches learning how to walk properly again, then 3 months of physio later and all I have to remind me on it is a slightly more pronounced limp (already had one due to my scoliosis but no one ever noticed it) and an honorable discharge from the CAF (not directly due to the injury, but it definitely made the decision to leave easier). I was very lucky to not have needed surgery, and if I hadn't made the decision to leave the military I never would have met my husband.

I'm glad that things worked out for you.

@Nakita Akita, how are you holding up?
It sucks. I took my dogs on a walk last week, usually takes 15 minutes around the block.
( that includes doo-doo pickup time for the boy,)
Last week it took 30 minutes, plus I sort of stumbled twice due to the nature of the big plastic boot and no ankle mobility.... Step on a lol ol rock or wahtever... Almost fall and break something else!
Plus still gotta mow the lawns, and do other yard work, clean the house, laundry, grocery shopping.:ack:
, it sucks. :ack:
