Surely something good happened to you today

I got home from the grocery store before the storm unloaded a ton of rain on us.
Always feels great to beat the rain in such situations.

Instead of having to endure nature with "Here Comes the Rain Again", you can celebrate your victory by singing "Here Comes the Grain Again" as you're offloading groceries.

Not today but yesterday.

I got discharged from hospital to go home.

I was on holiday in Greece and got admitted to hospital on the 3rd August, I was vomiting blood and passing it from the other end.

Spent 2 days in a public hospital in Zante before being transferred to a private hospital in Athens by Air ambulance.

Numerous procedures and 10 blood transfusions and 2 weeks there i got to leave and return to the UK. Spent 2 nights in hospital in UK and now at home.

It's been a traumatic time for both myself and my wife.

So glad to be home.

Since this thread has been blank over two days, I'm happy to get it back on. I really shouldn't bring it up, but since it was funny and I know you'll all comment kindly, a dog expressed keen interest in my rear equator center. Yes, he sniffed my well-protected, bench-sitting butt.:borg:

I played D&D with my friends today and brought pralines. For background, last time I was in New Orleans I took a demonstration cooking class and came away with recipes for gumbo, jambalaya and pralines. The first time I tried to make pralines they didn't work, they didn't solidify enough. I thought I didn't leave them on long enough even though the candy thermometer said the right temperature. This time, I left them in longer and tried to prove they were in the 'Soft ball' stage by putting a little bit in water. But while I was doing this and not stirring, the whole thing started smoking and set off the smoke alarm.

I thought it was ruined, but when I took it off and stopped the smoke alarms, it looked fine, so I kept stirring it. When I scooped it onto the paper, it hardened as it should, I thought it might have too much burn flavor.

But, I got the following exact feedback. "If you date a girl, give this to her on your second date. If you give it on your first date, they will become your sycophant."

Apparently they loved it.

In high school I had this bracelet that was rather unusual, it had a mechanism that you could open and close. It was a gift from a friend, I asked him where he brought it and brought two more pairs whenever I lost or broke the one I owned at the time. When my last bracelet was damaged, I tried to buy a new one, but the shop didn't sell them anymore.

So I haven't seen then for years, I was recently looking for a similar bracelet. Lo and behold I found my high school bracelet again, I immediately brought one. I'm so glad I own that bracelet again, will definitely buy more next month when I get my sick money
