Got a call this morning that my dentist caught the flu and my appointment must be postponed by 2 weeks. YAY!

That depends, when I get a really bad toothache, which fortunately only happened like twice in that many decades, I am really glad to see my dentist!!!

Good thing today: it's been a lovely clear night and Venus and Jupiter were beautifully visible this morning when I went to work. (Actually, Saturn would have been visible as well, slightly to the left, but I was not awake enough yet to notice him *blush*).

Second good thing: the days are getting noticeably longer now =) As a Bavarian saying correctly claims: by Christmas it's a midge's step, by New Year it's a cockerel's stride, Epiphany: a deer's jump and by Candlemass a whole hour. (Sounds better in Bavarian since there it rhymes). Still, it's nice to go to work at dawn and not in the middle of the night anymore.

I am ambidexter, which basically means that I can use both hands almost indifferently, which is an interesting quirk, on the other hand () it also means that I tend to confuse my right and my left and have more difficulty than most to identify things like star constellations, or planets.

I wish I could use my left hand for, well, just about anything. It's pretty useless in most cases.

About dental implants: before I knew anything about them I thought it was a really, really cool concept. Insert and replace costume teeth at will! Nope, they're basically just screwed-in, permanent dentures.

Being ambidexter can be trained. I used to be 100% right handed but most surgeons, dentists and biologists develop the ability to use both hands as our jobs occasionally make it necessary to swap sides (for example, sometimes you can't get to something with the scalpel in the right hand,, but can easily reach it from the left side).

Good thing today: I learned today that I may represent my department in 2 important meetings in mid-February A good chance for networking and for preparing to take over my boss' job when he gets pensioned off in 10 years.

I have a friend who's lefthanded. He told me recently that lefthanded people are better at some sports like tennis for example. I don't know if it's true but if it is then it shows how stupid people were in the past when they tried to discourage people from using their left hand causing trauma in the process. I read that it's psychologically destructive to being forced to use your secondary hand as your prime one. It's not at all the same as being trained to be ambidextrous as in that case your prime hand still remain that way and there will always be a preference for one hand over the other.

It’s not Spicy, but seasoned. It’s lamb, cooked on a rotisserie rather than a skewer, and served in a toasted pita bread with salad and garlic mayonnaise.

The running joke about a Donna is that they’re only delectable when inebriated, but they are really nice.

My old Game Boy SP still has plenty of juice and I put in Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario 3 in it, and it still works. Wanted to test out the Mario Bros mini game in it, in order to compare it to the version on Nintendo Switch Online. And it's like night and day (it's a later version of the game on the GBA game). The jump controls on the NES version are horrible by comparison. It's one thing to be harder and one thing to be a pain in the butt.

I found a plugin in my installation of 3ds Max that was slowing my loading times to a crawl...I'm talking five minutes to open the program.

Found a removed. Now it loads blazingly fast!

Cleaned out some of my old Game Boy games with iso alcohol and qtips and got most of them working again. Pokemon Yellow and Super Mario Land are gonna take a bit more work.

Good thing today is a bit convoluted:
My dad got a new cell that doesn't fit in his old belt-pouch. Therefore he asked me to sew a new one for him. He didn't give me the exact measurements, though, but swapped 2 digits. Today we tried if the new phone fits and it does perfectly, thanks to me accidentially cutting a wider seam allowance than usual =) This way 2 errors rectified each other
