Supernatural4x9"I Know What You Did Last Summer"spoiler/discussion

Huh. I-tunes released the episode an hour ago and it already shot from #100 to #16 on the general best sellers' list and climbing. You gotta like that. Maybe the New York viewers got tired of waiting. :p

I just watched it last night and loved it. So, Ruby used to be human *and* she seems to have a conscience. I wonder if we're going to see her somehow be redeemed by God since she's working with Dean and Sam. After all, the body she now inhabits is an empty shell  That was very clever.

I'm curious why Heaven wants whats-her-name dead. You'd think she would be under angelic protection. I am now eagerly anticipating next week's episode.

She's too much of a threat. She can hear angels, but not demons. It's too risky for them to let her live.

Not only was I banned, Barnes pinned up a note in the episode comments thread about not telling others "what to do" nice and fresh. I am still stunned that a perfectly innocuous observation could get me banned. I was perfectly polite with it. That's all I said. Barnes is all on about starting wars between fans or some such crapola. Nobody would have batted a single eyelash at the comment here in this forum....or in any other. I've already had some people there e-mail me saying they can't believe Barnes banned me for that. I'm not even the one who brought up Buffy. Someone else did, because she slept with a dead body, too, every time she banged a vampire. It was a legitimate comparison.

But Sam didn't sleep with a dead body. The body is very much alive, there just wasn't a light on, until Ruby entered the vacated premises.

Buffy on the other hand, had sex with actual room temperature corpses, which quite frankly gives me the willies.

Now, now, don't be telling other people how to post and starting fan wars. We'll have to ban you. I know from bitter experience.

I happen to agree about Buffy. She was sleeping with a room temperature corpse. The "he's a terrible person/it's no big fucking deal get over it, it's just sex" fan wars continue about Sam. It's highly amusing.

Murder isn't exactly the type of thing that should be sanctioned by God and his angels.
When's the last time you read the Old Testament? Specifically, the story of Lot and his family.

My whole point is that that shoudln't be tolerated by what is supposed to be good. The Old Testament has more sex, violence and other objectionable crap in it that if you made it into a movie it would be NC-17 AT BEST. An something that is supposed to be the embodiment of good should not murder people.

War is hell.

I don't approve of their decision, by the way, I'm just playing devil's (er, angel's?) advocate. :p

Oh dear. It would seem that after a season of praise, Supernatural has earned its first "reader's jeer" from TVGuide.com. :p It's not the editors or the critics--it's the fan page where fans can give jeers or cheers to their favorite show.

Guess what plot development this fan jeered? It sure drew a lot of responses.

Sam and Ruby's not so super sex

Did the Buffy fandom have a cow when she bumped uglies with Spike?

Some did mainly to one violent encounter.

But we also have to remember that she banged Angel to and while Angel's demonic soul was not in charge it was still a corpse.

Yeah, but that was different. Buffy and Angel were always planned to hook up, so it made sense. Buffy and Spike were just thrown together, or at least it felt that way, and it was stupid.

Well, we're gonna see if the fandom has a double standard when it comes to the mighty Dean, because Ausiello is hinting that Dean catches up in the sex sweepstakes this week.

Sure implied it in the preview.

My God, but Jared Padalecki is a fine male specimen.
Why, yes. Yes he is.

Gen took her top off and my boyf was all "Why do we get to see her boobies and not his?" I said, "Give it a second." And lo, there was skin.

Lordy lordy. *fans self like southern lady*

Anyway, I mostly agree on the Ruby situtaion. It's a shame to have to constantly rag on the poor girl, but she is definitely the weak link. Mind you, on the question of her "acting different," the maid put a little stereotypical black sass into her version, which has never appeared in any other version. So maybe the demon picks up some personality characteristics from its host, and Ruby #3 is just a much less interesting body to inhabit than Rubys #1, 2 & 4.

Which is a really long way to go to excuse a bad actress.

I want to make a note on demon eye colour. We have the likes of Lilith and now Alastair, who get white eyes. We have Azazel, the only one to be seen with yellow eyes so far. We get Crossroads demons, who have red eyes (and nice to see a male CRD this time, especially a ruggedly handsome one). And your average everyday demon, who has black eyes. It seems the whites and yellows are higher up the ladder (or down, depending on your POV) than your reds and blacks. I wonder how the hierachy works exactly? And what will Lucifer himself have when we see him at last? A nice fuscia? Perhaps beige. Turquoise. Ecru.

Lucifer's eyes will surely be crimson and cream, the color of those evil Oklahoma Sooners. :scream: He'll look like Sam Bradford who can still throw passes with a broken bone in his hand on third and long. The stuff of my nightmares. :alienblush:

Yeah, I wasn't bitching out of jealousy over Ruby. You know what a cheerleader I am. If I think something's a weak link, it's a weak link. Genevieve Cortese CAN. NOT. ACT. I don't give a flying rat over a rolling donut that she slept with Sam. The more Jared Padalecki nakedness the better, IMO. He could give a BJ to Castiel and I'd be fine with it. The thing is, I can see Katie Cassidy convincingly tempting a distraught Sam. I loved Katie in the part. I just hope that Ruby has a new meatsuit and a better actress when we see her again, which won't be for awhile apparently. This episode played a lot better on rewatch, but GC still underwhelms me.
