Supernatural4x12 "Criss Angel Is A Douchebag" SPOILERS

Absolutely loved the title and the constant "...is a douche bag" comments throughout the episode.

That said, I really don't care for most stand-alone episodes. I prefer the ones that address the main story significantly more. For a stand-alone it certainly wasn't bad by any measure, it just doesn't appeal to me all that much.

Looking forward to them getting back into the thick of things.

This year it might be later, February sweeps has been moved to March, SO I would expect those heavier episodes to air during that time.

The thing I like about Supernatural and they do it a lot of the time, this week and last week being prime examples.

The characters in the 'story of the week' segment have actual character development to them. Last week you found out about the family, the death of their son, etc... They weren't just wall-hanging to push through a plot for the episode.

Same with this episode. You get some real focus on Jay, Charlie, ec...

I think sometimes Supernatural really benefits from just having two leads. When you have other shows with large casts every scene tends to then have to involve someone from that cast to work it into the story on a weekly basis.

Supernatural because of just having Sam & Dean in each episode it gives the writers the ability to not have them appear in scenes and actually just give some development to whatever character is appearing in the storyline for that week.

If only ENT had had real character development it might have lasted. I'm still astounded that they never had Trip deal with feelings about the cogenitor's suicide. Dean and Sam never let anything go. It always comes back.

I know it has been said, but I loved the title. Having a Criss Angel knockoff act like a total tool just wasn't enough.

Just watched it now, and yeah, it was pretty good. Liked the attention and care taken with the older characters and the sincere but un-over-acted emotion it was played with. That's what happens when you cast actors with a bit of experience under their belt - they blow the pretty children off the screen every time.

* mmmm.... blowing Jared and Jensen off-screen... *

Sorry. I also agree that this was a good example of making the story of the week have an emotional effect on the regulars. Sometimes when they try to do that it feels a bit shoe-horned. This time it really worked, especially because it was again under-played, not laid on sledge-hammer style.

It was also interesting that all the three actors playing the older guys were familiar from other things - Barry Bostwick from Rocky Horror, John Rubenstein from Angel, and Richard Libertini (Vernon) - it took me a while to place him, but he was Akorem Laan, the "other Emissary," in DS9's "Accession" (which I also just watched the other day).

Hmmm, Barry Gibb, Barry Bostwick, are all guys named Barry blessed with the hair gene?

Like everyone else, loved the title. A little different type of story here, not your typical boogyman/urban legend kind of thing, though I find I usually like those episodes.

So did Dean get out of that building without ,well lets say without being manhandle by the Chief? He didnt look beat up or sore ,atleast walked straight after that part.

Im guessing he still had his FBI id on him and showed that to Chief.
What does everyone else think and odd no one has here has said much about that, cause to me that was the creepist thing ive seen all season.

Talk about fear.

Still dont understand how charlie died but then was young again, have to rewatch the episode later i guess.

Barry Bostwick's character put a card in Charlie's pocket and then stabbed himself in the gut.

Barry Bostwick was an outstanding guest star. I love that he appeared on the show. Oh John Picard--nice picture of Dean. :bolian: The man's profile is so handsome that it's obscene.

Oh please, I pegged that the moment a hot boy opened the door for Dean and we could hear thudding dance music in the background.

But then, that may say more about me.

No, he was asking about Charlie, not Jay. Charlie only pretended to kill himself, since he knew Jay was on to him. He's an illusionist - he can make it look like he died, no trouble. And he knew the secret of immortality, so he either used that to rejuvenate himself, or he was already still young and the aging was an illusion which he then dropped.
