Supernatural - worth getting?

I was toying with the idea of dabbling in one or more seasons. I don't know much about it but someone recommended it to me. Any thoughts?

The first season is currently £8.98 and seasons 2 and 3 are £10.58... it's certainly worth giving a shot at those prices.
Or there's a boxset of seasons 1-4 for £48.57

I absolutely love the show, the characters are so well drawn (especially after about episode 10) that even when the episode isn't that strong I still find good in almost every episode. I found it far better drawn then Buffy or Angel (who's character are far too broad and they never really seem to treat the universe they are in serious enough). It also gets far amount of comparisons to the X-Files, but (not counting the great production values the X-Files) had, SN is far more consistent in quality then the X-Files.

Supernatural also has the benefit of the series creator keeping more control and having a clear idea of where he's going. It's what seperates a good series from a mediocre one whose writers just fail to think ahead or keep creative control (thinking of Heroes with a great first series, crap afterwards).
