Spoilers Supernatural - Season 12

Plus the whole deal with secret monster families really running Chicago was a real WTF. It didn't really seem to fit with the show's mythology.

This came to me late last night and just throwin' it out there:

Sam and Dean = Bo and Luke
Bobby = Uncle Jesse
The Malibu = The General Lee
Jody = Daisy
Castiel = Cooter

I reckon them Duke boys woulda been some pretty good monster killers in their day what with the dynamite arrows and such.

You mean the IMPALA??

The problem was that they took a completely separate show about monsters and the mob in Chicago, and tried to shoehorn it into the Supernatural Universe. Different monster rules, different atmosphere, and different histories made the two shoes incompatible in a lot of ways. Of course, over the last few seasons, canon be damned, for the SN writers, anyways....

The finale made me really hope for alt Bobby and alt Rufus to somehow come out of the other universe. That should have been the real spinoff..... even if they had to cast younger actors, and have the old guys tell their stories via flashbacks. Bobby and Rufus as the Young Indy Chronicles of the SN universe. Maybe even learn the rest of John's early years.

I would pay good money to see that. :bolian:

^^^ That's the spin-off they should have tried in the first place.

Use characters people actually care about, not complete randoms we've never seen before.
Agreed. They have had a bunch of great characters they could have spun off, and Sheriff Jody is at the top of the list.

If it were current day alt-Bobby and -Rufus, then I thought when alt-Bobby said the name Rufus, he was referring to his big gun, which he had named after his old friend. Which would mean that current-day alt-Rufus would be dead.

But if we're going with younger actors and earlier stories, then hell yes.

It would also go a long way towards addressing the not entirely unjustified accusations of sexism the show has faced. I don't want to get into that whole argument here, but the show's history with recurring female characters did make me worry/assume/be resigned to Mary, Kelly, Rowena, Jodie and Lady Antonia all being dead by the end of the season.

Instead they killed two men (although whether they'll stay dead who knows), kept two of the five women alive (albeit one of them stuck in an alternate universe facing the Devil himself), and there's a chance a third one faked her death.

Having a female-led hunter team full of teenagers and badassery might bring the Supernatural-verse closer to Buffy territory, but frankly that's something the world has been missing.

Hints are dropping about season 13. We all knew Cas would be back, but now they're saying he'll be "more dead than usual" and in a place they've "talked about but never confirmed," and won't be alone.

My guess is that means The Empty. I'm also guessing he'll be there with either Billie or Michael.

Michael is still trapped in The Cage, so I doubt he is in The Empty. I have wondered where angels go when they are killed... maybe Raphael and Gabriel are there, too?

I also wonder if other beings are there, too... like dead Reapers, gods, and other things that don't count as 'monsters' and would go to Purgatory.

Speaking only for myself, I think Earth-2 archangel Michael would be awesome.

They said it was a male who's not in our world, meaning someone who's likely dead--with the tease "let's call him friend," it could either mean a real friend or not-friend-at-all-but-allied-for-a-reason. I'm trying to figure out who the candidates are, but I'm having trouble coming up with anyone besides Crowley who would fit that description.

Near as I can figure there are only a few possibilities. Earth-2's Archangel Michael seems like he'd be one, and Gadreel would probably be another--but I for one would love to see the Earth-2 Metatron. The only other possibility is Bobby, but I couldn't see them turning him into a bad guy.

Speculation?

As the boys try to raise him to be a good guy and not like daddy. There will be a lot of "Do as I say and not as I do." :rommie:

If they're sensible, they'll loop this back around to exploring how to be a father to a child who has the potential to end the world - as per season 2 with John and Sam. Having had the mother back this year, maybe next year will bring the father back, in 'spirit' if not actuality.

.

They should have just ended it 2 seasons ago, with God and Amara restoring both the parents, and giving them their happy ending. There is really nowhere else to go, on a dramatic level, after dealing with God and his *sister*.....

If they needed to go the spinoff route, that would have been the time, or, the smarter move, IMO - letting Constantine take over the demon hunting block, and expand the Arrowverse.
