New episode tonight, good people. :) I'll be watching it later, per my usual Friday night routine now. Just easier to get my work finished and not have to worry about it over the weekend and alas, no tv in the boss's office. I've been so busy this week I have zero idea what this eppy is about. I hope we all enjoy. :techman:

First, Cas's return. Then, Bobby's. I'm beginning to love this latest run of episodes. And I can't wait for the boys to finally see Ghost Bobby. It has been long past due.

I love the Garth character and how his laid-back charm contrasts the weariness of the brothers.

God, how I mis Jim Beaver.

I mean there have been several great characters on this show. Actors and roles that just popped.

But none I miss more then Bobby. And what a way to tell an average hunt story and just nail the ending, nail it.

ANd know whats even better. The opening and the credits didn't spoil it. Which is about a first as far as this show goes.

Bobby. :wah::wah::wah::wah:

That was a cruel fake out with the flask.

Have to admit, been loving these episodes. Characters you care about--nothing better.

BOBBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:wah::wah::wah:

Oh, GOD, I miss him. It's nice seeing Jim Beaver on Justified, but I really, really miss Bobby.

I can't wait to see next week's.

I really like DJ Qualls as Garth I hope he returns sometime.

And you know I can buy supernatural oddities but not Dean driving a Pacer, I mean come on!

I hated Garth the first time. But I also hated that episode.

For this season Dean's Trial by Osiris, the stupid Buffy actors/ witch episode, and Sam marrying Becky are the only episodes I didn't at least like this episode. But two of them, Dean's Trial and the wedding episode were not just below average but utterly bad episodes (I especially hated the trial episode, HATED it).

But here Garth was used great. A nice counter point to the boys generally depressed and sad life, versus an almost incompetent hunter who has a much nicer and joyful view of life.

My wife and I missed the first part of the season while we were up in the woods in Oregon.

What's up with the 'ride of the week'....did they explain at any point where they are getting the cars and why? Stealing them? Getting them from Bobby's yard?

Let's see....Buick Riviera, Mercury Cougar, Pontiac Firebird, Dodge Challenger, and now the Pacer.

It reminds me of the episode where Dean went back to 1973 and was driving a Pinto that was from about 1979 or so.

Anyhow, we also miss Bobby. And Cas is all messed up in the loony bin. Sigh....

We've seen them steal some, so I assume that's how. And since the sent Levi's after them to kill them, I don't think they have went back to Bobby's after it was torched (or am I wrong).

This is why I love Jim Beaver.

With Misha's return, press releases talked about it. Interviews, by cast and crew. No mystery really.

With Bobby though, Beaver pushed for secrecy beyond simply not talking about it. He create a whole back story that would prevent him from filming anything else for SPN this year. And the writers, producers and stars of SPN backed him up, and helped him play his little game.

Which was freaking awesome.

Why is the next new episode April 20th? They wonder why these shows get no ratings when the show 2 new episodes and then for a month nothing.

Sweeps periods, Snick. You have to have three or four eppys during November, February and May for regular broadcast networks. To set advertising rates. That's why cable shows have surpassed the networks. Most shows only have the budgets to produce 22 eps per season so they have to spread them out.

Meanwhile, the CW continues to lose affiliates. A couple of my friends up in Ohio near Akron are losing CW because Direct TV is fighting with the local cable company. The CW has lost affiliates every single year; I don't know how it survives. I really don't. All its shows ratings are in the toilet. SPN on Fridays does better than everyting except Vampire Diaries, which doesn't even score 3 million regularly anymore.

God, Mad Men on AMC got 3.5 million for its premiere last week, and The Walking Dead got 9 million viewers for its season finale the prior week. On AMC. I like both those shows, so I'm not complaining, but it shows how pathetic the CW is.

It makes me wish SPN was on a cable network. Likely more viewers, possibly at least a slightly better budget, and probably a bit more freedom to really cut loose. SPN already gets away with a good amount of gore and violence for broadcast, but it's still just a broadcast show.

But it's mostly because I feel SPN is kind of dragged down by the network it's on. It really doesn't fit the CW mold at all.

I agree, Skywalker. I agree 100 percent. 13 really compact episodes like TWD has on AMC would be so beneficial for Supernatural. No more need for filler episodes. More intense gore and pain. Cursing like real hunters would do who face ghouls and vampires on a regular basis in urban America.

Like on the TWD ep when our fearless heroes beheaded a zombie and forget to shoot its brains, Daryl (the former racist and now fan favorite :lol: ) rolls his eyes and asks if "you people know anything" before we get a nice shot of him putting a crossbow into the now animated head trying to slither along the ground. Deeply, darkly, disturbingly humorous. Pretty gross. Probably too much for CW. Not, apparently, for American Movie Classics which edit their movies to death but have a live and let live attitude towards their original programming. :lol:

Mswood, I couldn't agree more about Jim Beaver's elaborate ruse about the abominable snowman film he was supposedly making. Location photos and everything posted to twitter. He's excellent. :bolian:
