Supernatural 7x1 "Meet the New Boss" spoiler discussion thread

It Sucked!

Two things behind the scenes.

Eric Kripke is no longer Executive Producer (so the material no longer gets approved by him) and Ben Edlund has stepped down from the writer's room. Both are now consultants.

Eric is working to on the pilot for Deadman to CW and a co production with JJ Abrams for NBC just got a pilot order.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :scream:

Eric is supposed to be one of the writers for next week's episode (if the rumor is correct).

ANd Edlund is supposed to be developing a couple episodes, but just wont be part of the writer's room. Of that I am also sad.

It wasn't THAT bad, but I think they should have avoided the whole: insert ancient big bad here, for the brothers to defeat halfway through the season. I mean Leviathans, really? Could have explored Castiel in God mode a little bit more, but now they've seemingly resolved that issue. Startrekwatcher is right, glad to see you back as well, this show has really become formulaic for what seems like 3 or 4 seasons now. I digress and will try and remain optimistic for this show, hoping that they switch it up a little.

I understand CW is trying to break the 4th wall with cast and crew for their shows' promos, but it was a bit odd seeing Sera Gamble briefly describe their process of writing the show. She is pretty easy on the eyes though.

yeah she is, real cutie. I liked the premire I just wished we could've seen what leviathans actually look like. all so when will GOD return?

I would like to see that couple try and explain what the hell happened in their house that evening. I could see adjoining padded rooms in their future.

I loved that moment between Dead and the man of the house.

"Hi! Uh... I don't wanna hurt you..."
"I'm the one with the firearm, son."
"I get that..."

That was simple and funny.

I'm wondering if they're saving the real god for the series finale. They certainly don't seem concerned with any protests by religious extremists, considering their portrayal of god as an absentee father and their support of Humanistic social beliefs.

I do hope we get to see some Lovecraftian horros before the season is over. :mallory:

I hope this series goes all the way threw to 10 seasons. and then god comes in and does a reset.

THe funny thing is for all the talk of formula. Last season strayed furthest from the formula patterned arc SPN has ever done. This season opener, the one where people are going why aren't they developing this as the larger arc is also really against type for SPN.

I thought it was great, mswood. :D I'm disagreeing big time. Leviathans rock. And they do take chances with formula with this show, which people beg for, and then they bitch when the writers do it.

And--$$%^#&*%###&*!!!! I have to go out of town for work again this weekend. I've been begging for more responsibility because I want a raise, so I can't turn it down. I hate being late to the party.

Are they trying to throw us for a loop though?....With Sam having, AND I say "so-called" hallocinations of "The Pit" and Lucifer,....AND BadCass telling Crowley that Michael needs to stay there?? What is up with that??...LOL

Final ratings

Supernatural
2.011 million (only returning show besides VD to cross 2 million)
.8 adults 18-49
.7 adults 18-34
.9 women 18-34

The CW has only 2 shows that hit 2 million--Supernatural and Vampire Diaries. What a dying network. Not even the new shows reached 2 million. The affiliates are shrinking and everyone DVRs it anymore. Of course, the TWOP denizens are pissed off that SPN rose to 2 million in finals. They think the writers have "turned on them" so they're rooting for failure now, at least the ones left on the site are rooting for it. They ban everyone else who tries to talk common sense anymore. It's only the nutters left--and Gwonk, who was happy to post the finals news to tweak the crazies.

So do you guys think there should even be a season eight for Supernatural? The CW really has no shows that do well these days except for TVD and Supernatural.

If it were up to them, they would probably handcuff Jared and Jensen onto the set so they can't escape. :rommie:
