Loved it. The boyf said about a third the way through, "This show is very silly." I said, "the silliness will have a point to make, trust me."
Really the Japanese game show did literally nothing for me. I thought it was probably their worst ever attempt at humor in the show's history.
I completely believe that these reactions were exactly the point - you weren't meant to find the funny in these bits. Because, that is exactly what Japanese game shows are like. They do not have the same sense of humour as the Western standard. I have a Japanese friend - her parents still live in Tokyo - and I have watched her piss herself laughing at shows exactly like this, while I sat there bemused at best. Japanese humour is very different from Euro-American humour, but those bits were - alas -accurate.The Japanese gameshow sketch was the worst. How old exactly is the writer? C'mon a strike to the crotch--we are talking Beavis and Butthead mentality here.
Ah... we agree on something at least. As far as genre leading men that I simply turn into a puddle over--Legend of the Seeker's Craig Horner whose new look this season makes him look so ruggedly handsome, Ian Somerhalder has those smoldering bad boy good looks, Paul Wesley who isn't a hulking figure but has just the right porportions and great features, Misha Collins is perfection and that voice of his drives me crazy, Milo from HEROES is very good looking and so is Adrian Pasdar--even that scar on his chin works in his favor.
