That is exactly what I've been looking for. An episode that ties everything together, leading us all the way back to the pilot and bringing back elements from all over the first and second seasons, making it look like this stuff was planned all along. Nothing yet tied in from the season 3 arc, but I now feel much more confident that it will be, eventually.
Why YED chose the Winchester family, the weird stuff with his mother at the end of s2, Sam's powers and his move towards darkness, YED's suspiciously nebulous plan. I frickin' love this kind of stuff! That was so fucking awesome I can't stop myself from saying it over and over.
Oh, and cute mention of the DeLorean. Star Wars in ep 1, Star Trek in ep 2, and now BttF in ep 3. Plus of course, honking big signal for the nature of the episode.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. Flawless casting and characterisation on the Winchester-Campbell clan. Right at the beginning, even my boyf said "He actually does look like him, doesn't he?"Oh but Mary.....she broke my heart. Mary Campbell, you were the coolest hunter chick ever to walk the earth in the 70s.. It struck me how very, very alike Mary and Dean are. Mary made the deal without thinking of the consequences, then when she didn't see the demon for years, maybe she thought she imagined it. Dean did just disappear. Memory plays with you. It all makes absolutely perfect sense. Mary is so much like Dean in that way. So loving and emotional and strong. Who ever cast Amy Gumenick as a young Mary did a superb job. Superb beyond belief. I can't believe they got such a "blah" actress for Ruby's new meatsuit when they can cast female guest stars like this.
Did Mitch Pileggi study a tape of Jared Padalecki's facial expressions? It sure seemed like it to me. Damn, Dean's gonna be PISSED OFF at darling Sammy.Me loves fireworks.
