News Superman & Lois Ordered to Series at The CW

That was just a rumor? I thought it was an official announcement.
No official announcement, but I'd call it more than "rumor" at this point. It comes from a pretty definitive (and presumably accidental) leak of the pilot script.

The image looked unbalanced, so I added something. ;)

I'd say it's unbalanced in that it needs more female characters. It would be great if they could get Jenna Dewan Tatum back as Lucy Lane so we could see the sisters together, though they might just recast Lucy as they did with Sam Lane. Let's see, who else could be in a Superman show? Ooh, how about the live-action debut of Lori Lemaris? Or the Kristin Wells Superwoman? They could bring back Thara Ak-Var, who's appeared in Supergirl and is Flamebird in the comics (though that could be confusing, since Mary in Batwoman is loosely based on another version of Flamebird, Bette Kane).

It would be cool if they introduced Steel/John Henry Irons, and Natasha Irons could then be included as well. There's also the gender-flipped Emilia Hamilton who appeared in Supergirl's first season. Maxima also appeared in that season as a DEO prisoner. Power Girl/Karen Starr could be a possibility, with some tweaks to her origin (or maybe not -- she could be a crossover character from Stargirl's Earth-2), or maybe a new version of Chloe Sullivan, if the association with Allison Mack hasn't completely tainted that character. (Supergirl has already established that a version of Chloe exists in the Arrowverse.)

Steel would be a cool introduction. In modern continuity (or recent continuity) he and Lana were an item, and Lana had powers for a while.

If you want more female characters, I like the idea of Powergirl, but I think that this show should start to break from the formula of too many characters just to check every box. Females are more than represented up and down the network, including this show.

But that said, Maxima might be an interesting recurring character. STEEL would have been a great addition. Maybe it will happen. Ron Troupe should exist too.

Some of these are great ideas for guests or arcs. But I don't think they need so many characters who would then need their own stories. This formula has hurt Supergirl and REALLY hurt Flash. I don't want the title characters to not have their due.

They should use this show to re-establish the multiverse. It made no sense for them to have the characters not know. THEN, I could see Powergirl on the show--a true Superman's cousin, but not THIS Superman. Maybe make crossovers to other Earths much harder and flukey, so that she is trapped on Earth Prime for the foreseeable future.

Personally, I'd prefer Steel over yet another Kryptonian. As a non-super superhero, Irons could be a very easy fit.

Speaking of Daily Planet staff, do we have a Perry White or any one? I know Jimmy and Cat are no longer at the Planet in the CW (and I think Dirk Armstrong is in jail), but maybe Fran or Steve Lombard or Allie the copy girl or Franklin Stern or Whit or...

There will likely more female characters in the recurring cast. I assume they will want to fill out the town folk since Smallville is a small town. I also think Martha would be in the show also.
