News Superman & Lois Ordered to Series at The CW

The belt is a big improvement, it helps to add a bit more color and break up the blue.
That's an interesting issue. Is that better or worse?
Better, I'd hate to lose the history that these characters have built up over the previous seasons. I can see where it would make sense to start over from scratch in the comics, where they had decades of complicated history, but these characters haven't even been around a decade yet.

Clark's new super suit for the new series has apparently leaked online...

Well, that's artwork over-painting a photo of the actor. If the actual costume matches the render, it's generally an enhancement and improvement on the current one - not only the belt, but the considerable streamlining of the cape attachment and improved workmanship on the boots.

Thank gods they continue to reject the damned red Speedo.

I didn't notice the smaller cap attachments, but now that I do, I like them a lot better. I've never been fan of the big bulky attachments they have on his and Kara's suits.

Nor have I. I imagine that they simplified effects or filming logistics in some way - those red straps were designed such that from certain angles and in close-up Hoechlin could appear to be wearing the cape but actually just have the straps on.

The painting makes the attachment look very similar to that in the comics and earlier versions of the costume, except for the addition of the gold clasps in the front.

Really liking the new belt.

I'm the opposite. To me I like the shorts, so long as they're not too baggy. To whit - this is fine

This isn't

This looks a bit fuller.

It's better but it needs the red shorts. That's iconic. They need to bring Superman back to being Superman, and that's part of what they need to do.

Hopefully it's a work in progress like the Flash.

I like all of the above photo's, shorts or no shorts I don't mind.
Only thing I am nog a fan of is the way Hoechlin's Supermans cape is attached.

Nah, can't stand the Speedo.

I'm also no longer particularly intrigued by the Chris Reeve version of the character (or its continuation by Routh).

It was very fine as a representation of the Silver Age version of the character for a particular time and place.

But even in 1978 it was nostalgic for Superman as he was conceived to entertain pre-adolescents, a version that was already an anachronism.

Well, the character and his milieu had to change, and did, and - to differ with Quentin Tarantino - Superman became Clark and grew up quite a lot in the process. As did his relationship with Lois Lane. Byrne may have taken inspiration from the first Superman movie but he added a lot and other writers have built ever since on the new foundation that he laid down.

This is good. Superman will no longer have to put over Supergirl now.
I hope they get some better writers and give it a unique feel. I don’t want it to feel like Supergirl.

Will Superman's enemies on this show all be less powerful than a 50-year-old man in a flying suit that shoots energy beams? Because they've already established he can't beat someone like that.

Don't worry--Clark and Lois are Republicans.

I hope they do something plausible with the Daily Planet. I mean, either it's bleeding money on its way to the glue factory or it's got a huge online footprint.

Probably half of Metropolis hisses at Lois and Clark for promoting Fake News by criticizing Lex Luthor.

They doing this thing in 2020? Luthor should run for President. Build a fucking national force field and make the Kryptonians pay for it.

In terms of what this show is going to be, I think, based on what little we know about it thus far, that it's going to be much more tonally similar to Black Lightning than to any of the other Arrowverse series we've seen thus far, being a Family-centric drama first and foremost and a Superhero drama secondly.

A couple of reporters for a large metropolitan newspaper? Not too sure about that.
Thought about responding to the Republican thing (because no), but pretty sure theenglish was just tweaking thribs.

The family-centric thing is fine and may be right, but I very much doubt it will be "tonally similar" to Black Lightning otherwise.
