Superman/Batman: Apocolypse!

Bruce Timm said the commentaries were becoming redundant. There is only so much the same people can say about another comic adaptation. They started doing the shorts instead. Personally, I'd much rather have a short than the commentary track.

Ooh, and Ed Asner's back as Granny Goodness! Really, who else could pull it off?

And in even better news, Lauren Montgomery's directing. She does terrific character work.

And it looks like Neal McDonough's going to be playing Green Arrow. That's a good choice. His voice is not dissimilar to Kin Shriner, who did the voice in JLU, but he's a better actor. And he's done superhero work before; he was Bruce Banner in the '90s Incredible Hulk series. (And will be Dum Dum Dugan in Captain America and The Avengers.)

Warner Home Video has confirmed two of their future titles: Green Lantern: Emerald Knights (which gives us a title for the Green Lantern DTV to be released in summer 2011) and Batman: Year One. Comics Continuum has learned that Batman: Year One will be directed by Sam Liu and Lauren Montgomery (who co-directed Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths). Nothing has been confirmed yet, but signs point to the early 2011 release being a Superman solo DTV written by Dwayne McDuffie.

February 2011 is clearly the open spot on the schedule right now. What I'm not sure of if that will be the rumored Superman Braniac story or if the Showcase entry that is floating around will be slotted there. I hope the February slot isn't taken by a simple repackaging of the existing shorts, but it could explain the increase to 4 movies a year.

I would hope Emerald Knights is a sequel to First Flight. Hopefully it will spotlight the Corps and give us John and Guy (if not Kyle) in addition to Katma Tui and others.

I also hope the Superman movie is good. With Superman: Doomsday and the forgettable Superman: Brainiac Attacks, it would be great to have a decent Superman solo movie.

Okay, if that's true, I might like it better. Would be awesome if they work in Alan Scott and the Starheart. Would be doubly awesome if they included "Mogo Doesn't Socialize" and "Tygers" from Alan Moore's work.

The character designs don't do much for me, but at least the brief glimpses of Kara (?) didn't look quite as creepy and anorexic as in Turner's original comics art.

And what disappointed me about Public Enemies was the writing. There's no way to tell from this trailer if the writing will be any better.

Well it's still from Jeph Loeb who did this with Turner so whoever adapted the script had to still work from Loeb's work. This was a stronger story imo than Public Enemies. I wonder if the stuff with Kara and Lois will remain in there? Yes that was Female Fury Kara you saw.

The script this time is by Tab Murphy, who had a story credit on Gorillas in the Mist and then went on to write three Disney animated features: Tarzan, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and Brother Bear.

Yeah you can hear bits of the voice actress used for Diana in the sneak peak feature included with Under the Red Hood but it's not revealed who is playing her yet. Diana is featured in the philosophical discussion the trinity has on Amazon Island over Kara.
