SUPERMAN (2012)

Yeah, Bomer's been pretty decent on the USA Network TV series White Collar, and he was actually I believe Ratner's top choice for Superman. Henry Cavill, who was up for Batman, Superman and James Bond, is another interesting choice.

I've thought Bomer looked incredibly Superman-like every since I first saw him on CHUCK.

And, yeah, SUPERMAN: THE MOTION PICTURE definitely opened around Christmas time. I remember catching it during the holiday break back in college.

Whereas the comparison never occurred to me until someone suggested it.

I still say The Middleman's Matt Keeslar would be an ideal Superman, Captain America, or any square-jawed boy-scout hero you can name. Although he'd be more a Silver Age-style Superman, while Bomer would be more of a Post-Crisis or Lois & Clark-style Superman/Clark.

Will Smith as Superman.

Lois: Superman! Brainiac is attacking the city!
Superman: Aww...hell no!

Completely random post here:

Last night I dreamed I was Clark Kent/Superman, and looked like Matt Bomer.

Anyway, it took place in the present, since the newspaper industry was hurting. So I thought I'd help the Daily Planet by granting them the first exclusive interview with Superman. But my dilemma was offering the interview to Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack) who knew my secret identity, or Lois Lane (Rachel McAdams) who did not.

I guess where I'm going with this is... Matthew Bomer as Superman and Rachel McAdams as Lois Lane? :)
I've seen Bomer on Tru Calling and Chuck. He looks too short and skinny to be Supes. I do like Rachel McAdams though.

Bomer is half an inch shy of six feet, which makes him almost the same height as Lois & Clark's Dean Cain and the syndicated Superboy's John Haymes-Newton and Gerard Christopher. Kirk Alyn and George Reeves were 6'1". And Bomer could easily enough bulk up for the role, as Christopher Reeve did.

Superman is canonically 6'3", as are Tom Welling and Brandon Routh (and Patrick Warburton, who played Superman in some Jerry Seinfeld short films). Christopher Reeve was 6'4".

I've always seen Rachael McAdams as Mercy Graves from TAS. As for Will Smith, I'd like to see him play against type. Think he could pull off a ruthless Lex Luthor? Also similar to TAS version. Or Chewetel Eijofor, maybe even Don Cheadle. Or perhaps somebody even older like Ving Rhames

It's old, worn out, and doesn't completely work for me anymore (That's what she said!) but I'm going to play my Patrick Warburton card one last time.

I'd be grand as peach pie if Zooey desChanel was cast as the new Lois Lane...I know others disagree with me and that's fine. After watching her in 500 Days of Summer and "Tin Man" recently I think she'd make a great Lois. I think she has all the qualities that make up what fans what to see out of Lois and she can act with the best of them. I'm not sure who I'd want the next Superman to be. I still really like Brandon.

Hopefully Nolan doesn't try to impart the same sense of 'realism' on the Superman franchise as he did Batman.

I agree with you. I think Nolan should do the next Superman movie in the same spirit as the first Iron Man movie, good action, drama and suspense with some light hearted fun.

I think Zoey Deschannel as Lois lane would be brilliant!!! :techman:
