Spoilers Supergirl - Season 2

Can we not have stupid reasons out of the blue to keep two love interests away from each other.

Yeah, I never really felt they sold the chemistry between them properly, but ending it did seem a bit abrupt and arbitrary.

Well, the only one of those that's an actual name is "Eva," however you pronounce it. So Cat could go for that.

Considering she went from 'Kara' to 'Kira', I don't know that the actual facts of the name really matter much to her.

I think a better analogy would be to having chemical or biological weapons on the premises. Or radiological weapons, which is what kryptonite actually is. Would you want to work for an organization that was willing to poison people with plutonium?

Although there was a good scene in that Superman/Batman comic I mentioned, where Superman asked Batman to imagine what it would feel like if there was a substance out there that could just kill him at any moment without warning, and Batman said "I don't have to imagine. It's called lead."

Sorry, I'm with Batman on this one. Kryptonite may technically be a radiological weapon, but in almost every instance of seeing it used it's actually far more comparable to a regular weapon. It doesn't leave lasting effects, it doesn't even usually incapacitate them to the same degree that getting shot would normally incapacitate a human. It's a perfectly reasonable safeguard that the world obviously needs.

I'd assume that the Supercousins did some superfast building repairs between scenes.

It crossed my mind as well, but considering Kara's construction technique with the teepee of steel beams, I wouldn't really trust her repair jobs long term, personally. Maybe Clark understands construction better.

I liked that it wasn't an insta-repair and looked like something a person without a construction background would put together as a stop-gap. In so many of these shows having super powers means they have perfect engineering, architecture, artistic and construction skills. "Wait as I restore Mount Rushmore to its original state!"

Considering she went from 'Kara' to 'Kira', I don't know that the actual facts of the name really matter much to her.

The point is, Kat's errors consist of either using a valid alternate pronunciation of the same name ("Kair-uh" vs. "Kahr-uh") or a valid alternate name altogether (Kira, Cora). They don't consist of inventing a nonexistent pronunciation of a real name (for instance, "Kuh-rah"). So she could change Eve to Eva or Evie, but not to "Ehv" or some nonexistent variant like that.

In some versions, though, kryptonite radiation is toxic to humans as well, just more gradually. In the DC Animated Universe and I believe in the post-Crisis comics, Lex Luthor got cancer from wearing a kryptonite ring for years. And of course in Smallville there were the humans mutated into "meteor freaks" by kryptonite (an idea that the aforementioned Superman/Batman comic story tried to clumsily retcon into the comics continuity).

So, no comments on on the DEO knowing Superman is Clark? Seeing as in that scene at the DEO he makes the comment in front of everyone about interviewing Lena as a reporter?

Despite it being unlikely that superheroes could maintain a secret identity away from prying governmental eyes in this day and age of modern surveillance technology I think the show is still pretending like nobody can actually hear what the characters are saying unless they're directly spoken to.

But in that scene he was pretty much addressing everyone in the room. It was a group conversation. Not like their "private" talk out on the city street.

The DEO is a government organization specifically dedicated to dealing with alien threats, and had worked with Clark briefly before, so it really shouldn't surprise people that every facet of his life is known to them. It's no different than what we saw with Kara in Season 1.

Good opening episode but two things bugged me...

Can we not have stupid reasons out of the blue to keep two love interests away from each other. How about we just let them get together or just drop it all together, I don't want to see a full season devoted to will they or won't they. Also it looked like one poxy beam in the car park was going to bring down an entire building? or is that more down to small budget only being able to show one poxy beam in a car park.

The impression I get is that they intend to drop the romance completely, probably because they realized they wouldn't have the time for it with all the new storylines and characters this season. Or because they found something much better for James to do instead.

And let's not forget it's a Berlanti show, where couples never stay together that long anyway.

They've been very inconsistent and unspecific with this in S1 with Kara's identity as well.
J'onn, Alex and Kara spoke very openly about them being sisters in front of everybody at the DEO multiple times, yet when J'onn and Alex were being arrested nobody higher up seemed to be aware of her true identity.

Similarly, the DEO agents talk as if the Supers can't hear what they say such as Alex and J'onn talking about Superman. I guess maybe they tune out the convos around them unless specifically focusing.

I hope that Luthor's sister really is good. I know a lot of people are expecting the common trope that Luthor's sister is secretly evil because she wants revenge for what Superman did to Lex. I definitely hope the writers can subvert that cliche by keeping her as a "good guy".

Nah - she's the 'Maxwell Lord' villain replacement. I'm sure we'll find out it wasn't Lex who took out the actual contract hit on her; she did it herself, BUT wants it to appear that Lex did it.

It's the same reason 'Cat grant' will be taking her own advice and moving out of her 'comfort zone' as they do need an in story explanation why Calilista Flockhart's will be in a lot less episodes this season.

As for dropping the Kara/Jimmy 'romance' subplot - yeah, I hope it's gone for good - but I further hope they don't decide to drop in another 'love interest'; as yeah, the character is a bit old here for all this sophomore 'soap-opera'/'teen-angst' garbage.

Overall, I enjoyed it and as someone else mentioned, I loved the "That's it, we're moving back to Gotham!" line from the civilian in the line of fire.

Here's a good look at Kara's resume:

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...=a.63238401222.97645.720181222&type=3&theater

It reveals she was a waitress at Noonan's for three years before getting the CatCo job, which I guess would explain why she likes eating there. Before that, she did an internship at the Midvale Newspaper (a rather generic name, that) in 2010 and was a part-time nanny in the summer of '09. She has a diploma from Midvale High School and a BA from National City University (with an additional notation after it that I can't make out), and her special skills are "Exceptionally Organized, Punctual, Strong Computer Knowledge, Eye for Detail" (heh), "Good at listening and taking orders," and one other I can't read. That computer knowledge hasn't really come into play so far, since she's had Winn for that. Although I guess her Kryptonian education would give her an edge there.

I am amused by her working for generic "Midvale Newspaper"! Years ago there would be no expectation that the audience could ever read something like that. But now they should know that fans will be able to read everything like that and will.

Considering we're talking a fictional universe with city name like 'Metropolis', or 'Central City', or 'National City, or 'Opal City', etc; that entry seems pretty normal for that world. ;)

While we're talking about locations, we now know that "Earth-S" shares the following locations with Earth-1:
* Central City
* Opal City
* Corto Maltese

I can't remember if we got a mention of Star City in "World's Finest" or not, so I'm not putting it in the 'confirmed to exist on Earth-S as well as Earth-1' column just yet.

The DEO having an HQ in the middle of the city makes little sense to me. Isn't that potentially dangerous to civilians, if it comes under attack or if an alien prisoner escapes? And what about the security risks of having that big skylight right overhead? Makes it easy for satellites or planes or drones to peek in.
