Summer's here! UGH!

Hate summer with a passion. Today it is 96 degrees and steamy in Atlanta.

The South in summer is like living in a steam room, only with giant, disgusting, bugs.

Man, I was just in Atlanta for the first time a few weeks ago. It's only about 200 miles south, but the difference in heat and humidity was astonishing. No wonder it's called "Hotlanta."

High 80s, low 90s here for the last couple weeks and probably the next few. Humidity's as bad as it always is.

Wow...it's really that much worse here? I mean, Chattanooga is only about a 75 to 90 minute drive or so.....

Do you live further north then, in East Tenn? I'd have thought it would be about the same there as here....but maybe not. It is just terrible here with the heat and humididity. And did I mention the GIANT. FLYING. BUGS????

Currently 80°F (27°C) in Los Angeles, with 52% humidity. Temps in the low 80s predicted for the next several days. And it’s always slightly cooler here on the Westside, close to Santa Monica and just a stone’s throw from the beach. So the weather’s damn near perfect for getting off my lazy ass and going outside for a walk.

Well, at 8 am, it was already 80 F. They're expecting a minimum of 103 F for at least the next NINE days.
Yeah, girls in short shorts and tank tops everywhere... I feel so sorry for ya. ;) :p
Of course, the flip side is fat hairy guys in shorts and tank tops. Or no shirts at all. :barf:

104°F here today. It's been over 100°F every day for nearly two weeks and we've been at or near a record high almost every day as well. I'm a little frightened to think about what August might be like if this heat dome just sits here and continues to build.

I'm not quite sure how to phrase this argument, though. "Young men: strike a blow for gender equality--go shirtless in summer" just doesn't sound right, somehow.
Umm, that would be inequality, since our Puritan ruling class doesn't allow women to do the same.

I hope you all enjoy your sweltering heat.

Here is the 7 day outlook for my area.

It sucks to be here for the next 3 months.
This was Junes weather.

And this is what we can expect for July.

Around Knoxville (just south), so about in the middle of the state vertically and just along the TN/NC border.

I might have chosen a bad couple days too, but it seemed noticably more oppressive. Then again, I spent a couple summers in southwest Ohio from 2004-2007, and it was pretty rough there too - humidity being the killer again.

It's a nice 21C down here in Newcastle. Doesn't feel like winter. Expecting some cooler days later in the week.

It was hot here today. I'm also going into Fresno this week where it's going to be hotter. Yay. :wtf:

Kestrel, i was wondering what part of East TN you lived in as well. don't live too far from Knoxville myself. maybe an hour and a half away at most.

WHY????

The heat is one of the biggest things I don’t like about living in Fresno. The biggest one is that there’s no where I like to walk. I’m not a hiker--plenty of fantastic places an hour or so away (Yosemite, Sequoia, etc), but just for strolling, like at a mall.

There’s A mall and a couple of shopping centers, but that’s it. I like to window shop (in comfort), and that’s sorely lacking here.

^I'm actually driving through Fresno to get up to the Sequoia National Park area. It's my annual trip up there starting Friday and going for a week.

I'm glad to hear Fresno is not your actual destination. The only people who live there are people who were born there, people who broke down there, and people not allowed to leave the city as a condition of their parole.

I kid! I kid because I love. Well, not really but...

ANYWAY...

Yes it is frakking hot. It was 102 in the Big Tomato yesterday. Only supposed to be 100 today. Where we live it's usually 3-4 degrees hotter than the forecast.

Nice day for AC and TiVo.

We have had a great summer here in Scotland so far.....we had 2 sunny warm days last month and it was sunny and warm yesterday and today.....so summer 2011 will go down as one of the best yet for many years.
