Summer post your desk top thread!

Cool. What's the ship from? It looks very Homeworld\Sins of a Solar Empire-esque.

Nice. Where did you get the F111 wallpaper from please?

:)

It's a cropped, resized and reversed version of this 2008 image from the ADF website. :)

Our F-111s are being decomissioned at the end of the year (to be 'replaced' by F/A-18E/F Super Hornets ) so I thought them deserving of some attention at this juncture. And they're gorgeous aircraft.

Right now it's this:

But it's part of a cycle of 12 images that rotate every 12 hours, so it's like that and 11 more.

Ta:)

I always liked one of the demonstrations they put on at our local airshow (Though if memory serves, it was USAF versions). It's the one where they do the quick low level run, jettison some fuel and then use the afterburners:)

It's a great display. And man, that must've been some time ago; USAF decommissioned its F-111s shortly after Desert Storm as I recall. It's sad to see them go as it's a unique aircraft in the modern era and well suited to Australia's near-unique requirements, which of course is why the RAAF has held on to them for as long as it has. Of all aircraft in or nearing production worldwide, the most direct replacement for the F-111 - the Su-34 Fullback - is still somewhat short-legged by comparison and, being Russian, is (unfortunately) out of the question in any case.

Emher and Camelopard, does either of you have a link? Or could you upload the wallpapers? They're awesome.

New wallpaper for this week. As always, click image to see full size:

Mine is Saturn as seen from Mimas by Chesley Bonestell.

You can just google "Saturn Mimas Bonestell" until you find a suitable image.
