Summer 2011 sci fi movies

Thus far I'm not anticipating anything other than the live action Cowboy Bebop film which is probably doomed to production limbo like other anime/live action films before it and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Okay updating my list (are we expanding this thread to include all science fiction movies from 2011 since someone listed Sucker Punch which is coming out in March?)

-Green Hornet
-Thor
-Green Lantern
-Captain America: First Avenger
-Source Code
-Sucker Punch
-Cowboys and Aliens
-X-Men: First Class
-The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
-Contagion

If we're counting Fall 2011, there's always REAL STEEL.

And when is RISE OF THE APES coming out?

Surprised Pirates of the Caribbean hadn't been mentioned yet. No more Orlando Bloom!

PotC 4: On Stranger Tides is one of three I'm looking forward to, the others being the final Harry Potter and UFO.

I'll probably check out the Apes film as well. I loved the original, 1968 movie.

I didn't include Harry Potter in my list since I consider it fantasy...for that matter none of the superhero flicks other than Green Lantern and Thor should be included in this list.

Whether or not superhero films count is a slippery slope thing - Iron Man and Spider-Man certainly are sci fi based. I don't know enough about Green Lantern to say, but isn't the ring of alien origin?

Green Lantern is definitely sci-fi, not fantasy, if that matters to you. He gets his ring from a dying alien, and ends up joining an intergalactic police force.

Think Lensmen . . . .

Green Lantern is about a human who becomes an intergalactic space cop so yes it's definitely science fiction.

Speaking of that...when is somebody going to do a move or TV series based on Lensmen?

Or did they do that and it was called Star Trek? :D

Bump to add Lars von Trier's Melancholia to my list, misgivings about the wisdom of casting Jack Bauer in the film aside.

I have a blind spot for seasonal terms as I never know which months of the year they refer to, sorry.
