Me thinks Amis is continuing the long, proud British tradition of writers using over the top satire to comment on societal problems, but he is making a valid point that is only going to have to be discussed more and more as time wears on. When you have a group of contributors to a pot that are shrinking, and a group of takers from the pot who are growing simple math should tell you that is going to be a problem.
