Sucker Punch---Discussion until release, you guys know the deal

I'm worried that is what it's only going to be. I'm not going into this thinking that it will be an "Inception" but I am hoping not only to be entertained by visuals and music but also engaged by an interesting story. The soundtrack track listing has been released as well. It will be coming out March 22.

No word on Tyler Bates score which I'm actually looking forward to hearing for once.

Sadly Hollywood has given us plenty of reason to hold such concerns.

That is my hope as well. It looks good enough to pay to see it on the big screen and if I like it enough I will later cast another economic vote and purchase the BluRay.

Is anyone else creeped out a bit by the blatant sexualization of characters that are supposed to be young girls? I mean they're jailbait, basically. :wtf:

I'm not sure, but they seem to have used the same technique to make them look shorter that was used for the Hobbits in LotR in some scenes, so I'm guessing pretty young. The only quotes I've found describe them as 'young girls' though, no specific age.

They look to be 16 at the very youngest, and more like 17-19. Wasn't this the same era where "uppity" women were occasionally sent to insane asylums anyway? I know the movie Changeling delved into that a bit. Seems to be the case here.

Even if not, so what? It's not like friggin' Disney doesn't do it (or at least encourage it) with preteens these days. A teenage girl who doesn't dress like a slut, especially in their own fantasy world, almost feels weird.

If they were 10yr old girls, yeah, creepy.

Here not creepy. Let's keep it real the only reason some think a 16/17yr old is too young is cause you're told to think that. If this was 15th century we'd be talking about which one to wed and bare our child. Heck some parts of the world still don't shun the thought of a 16/17yr old getting married, not seeing it as "too young", since "too young" is the ick factor invoked.

**
Note: I'm not endorsing the sexualization of teens just saying I think this is an over reaction.

I'm not even quite sure what the deal is with their age. Babydoll is tossed into the Asylum by her abusive father from what I can tell from the trailers and she's wearing some kind of school girl outfit so she must be around 19 or younger. I'm guessing all of them are around that age. I'd go out on a limb and suggest that Babydoll is the youngest of the group.

They all look over 18 to me.

That's probably because all of the actors are over 18, but they've made them look like they're about 12. Like I say, the only concrete age reference I've found is 'young girls' which suggests to me someone too young. They look a lot younger than 16 to me, in fact I'm pretty sure they've used the same technique they used in LotR to make the hobbits look shorter, but in this case to make them look much smaller and younger. I mean look at these, they're tiny:

To me they look like they're supposed to be about 12-14 max. I cuold be wrong of course, but it's a bit creepy if not.

According to a google search that I just did Emily Browning is 5'2 so she's already pretty small. I seriously doubt they would have needed to use the "Hobbit" technique.

They've been really pushing this around the Times Square area in New York City including a huge (several stories tall) poster that you can't miss. There are some incredible visuals in this film from what the trailers show. Can't wait to see them on the big screen!

I thought the first one was really interesting. I liked the reference to Revenge of the Sith. The second one I think I'll have to watch again because people around me were talking the first time. There were a couple of shots where the outline of the dragon reminded me of the Batman symbol.

Are there any more coming?
