Sub-Commander Taris model kit

Forbin

This is a 28-year-old vinyl model kit put out by Geometric Models. It's 1/6 scale, so about a foot tall. It's a pretty good likeness of Carolyn Seymour. I googled up some frame grabs of her appearance in "Contagion," and was horrified to see the complex patterns of grey quilting on her uniform. I decided to simplify it by just painting a triangle in each cell. That took a few weeks on and off, 'cause I could only stand doing about a square inch at a time.. I added some solid color panels to reduce the labor. Then after I posted to facebook, someone in the know pointed out the sculpt represented her in "Face of the Enemy," in which her uniform is a much simpler checked pattern. Story of my life .

The photos don't show the subtle olive pastel shading I did on her face very well.

More photos at the link, including a screen grab of the complex uniform:

Carolyn Seymour herself complimented the model on Facebook (it's amazing who pops up there), but didn't remember approving "a doll." :vulcan:

Also, disclaimer: I usually build spaceships and airplanes, so my occasional figure model ain't up to the quality of guys who do figures all the time.

That's frigging awesome, and don't sell yourself short on the quality, it is REALLY good. :mallory::techman:
