stupid parenting 101 - family pet python kills 2-yr-old daughter

Some ho gets knocked up by some guy at 16-17, a couple of years later is shacking up with some dude named Darnell who likes 8 foot snakes. Yeah, that kid never had a chance.

It's funny that people consider reptiles to be pets at all. By definition there brains aren't advanced enough to understand anything but "I'm hungry must find food".

To be fair, I think my brain is more or less at the same level. Well, off to grab some In-N-Out Burger! :techman:

Could just be an accident caused by negligence as they said, but a couple of details gave me pause:

Sumter deputies and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers had to get a warrant to enter the home to find the two snakes Darnell kept in the house.

They had to get a warrant? The mother and boyfriend didn't give them permission to search? Granted, they had some weed in the house, but when a child is dead, you shoudn't give a shit about that kind of thing.

And then there's this:

Department of Children and Families spokeswoman Carrie Hoeppner said the agency has investigated several complaints involving this family during the past year.

A "couple" of incidents were verified, she said, but she did not disclose details.

Caruthers confirmed that a month ago that deputies responded to a "DCF-type call" at the home. Child abuse and neglect investigators will look into Shaiunna's death, Hoeppner said.

Darnell was arrested in May on numerous drug charges. A charge of larceny was dropped against Hare when she was 16.

I wonder if the "incidents" involved the boyfriend.

This is very sad regarding the little girl but...

In Florida the invasive Burmese is one of four python species considered a "reptile of concern."

That's like a "person of interest"...

Any, it's dumb to keep predators as pets. Yes, I include cats and dogs in that, too. Don't kid yourself, Timmy. If it got the chance a poodle would kill you and everyone you care about!
