That could be it!
However, the fact that that Christie Golden ditched C/7 quickly and without much fanfare makes it pretty clear that the couple was ill-considered and doomed--just as Troi/Worf were doomed at the end of TNG. The C/7 pairing did both characters a big disservice, IMHO, and would never have happened if the writers intended to continue any part of the Voyager storyline beyond "Endgame." If they had written a post-"Endgame" movie, I daresay C/7 would have disappeared just as quickly as Troi/Worf did in the TNG movies. That's pure speculation, of course.

At least Troi/Worf had nearly a season of buildup which established some common ground with them which was definitely needed with such an unlikely pair. That was wisely dropped in the movies though. C/7 not only didn't have that kind of buildup but was simply ill-conceived and icky, imo.
It certainly fed the fires for some great (and not-so-great) fanfiction though. I don't like what Pocket has done with Voyager but with all the fanfiction out there to read who needs them?
I loved Spirit Walk Book 1 but am having a hard time reading Book 2 of it. I think the story is very fascinating though and there are some wonderful parts in it.
I haven't read Homecoming but i've heard both good an bad things about it in general. I guess i'll have to buy the book and read it myself from my own perspective.
I also love fanfiction, especially J/C after Endgame. I can't bear to see Seven and Chakotay together, so I imagine a different ending. Then I try to convince myself that it wasn't real but fail every time.

I must admit that I find the Voyager Relaunch a bit dissapointing. Not downright bad but somewhat mediocre.
The stories are rather thin and I guess that the split-up of the team is one of the reasons that I find the whole thing a bit uninteresting. I mean, I rather re-read the great season 1-3 books where they were struggling in the Delta Quadrant, masterpieces like "The Black Shore", "Marooned", "Her Klingon Soul" and many others.
I also miss Kes and Neelix and wish that they could be "brought back in action" in the Relaunch books.
However, I still see the Relaunch as the logical continuation of the Voyager story.
As for C/7, I can understand that they scrapped that. I never understood why they teamed up those two, sometimes I have the feeling that those in charge did it as a final "showing the finger" to the Voyager fans before heading to their new pet project "Enterprise". They must have been aware of the fact that there was a large group of J/C-ers among the fans. There were no chemistry at all between Chakotay and Seven and there weren't much interaction between them either in the series what I can remember.

I am going to have to pipe in with all of this negative chatter. I have about 150 Star Trek novels under my belt so I have read quite a bit of trek lit. With that being said, the VOY-R are not nearly as bad as people make them out to be (in my opinion ofcourse). Homecoming and The Farther Shore both did a better job closing the series the the finale did. The Spirit Walk books were tolerable but below average.
I guess what I am trying to say is they to me are all readable. String Theory on the other hand is tough and probably deserves the negative reviews. After I re-read this past weekend, I think that trilogy got worse.
