String Theory Before Full Circle? (No Spoilers)

Hello all,

I just dragged myself through the four Voyager relaunch novels. I haven't read the three String Theory books yet, but I want to read Full Circle.

I know Beyer wrote Fusion, so I just want to know - will the Full Circle reading experience be better if I've read String Theory previously, or do the two exist in separate vacuums? I know the books are meant to be readable even for novices, but I like having "informed" reading experiences, and I have a special love for "reading things in order" even when said order isn't explicit. If there are enough references in Full Circle to justify a reading of String Theory beforehand, I'll do so.

Thanks as always!

Hi historypeats. The three String Theory books aren't part of the Voyager relaunch, and take place between the fourth and fifth seasons of the television series. I've read a part of Full Circle and, as far as I'm aware, there are no references to the trilogy of novels.

The Voyager relaunch stories are as follows:-

  • Homecoming by Christie Golden
  • The Farther Shore by Christie Golden
  • Spirit Walk: Old Wounds by Christie Golden
  • Spirit Walk: Enemy of My Enemy by Christie Golden
  • "Seduced" short story in Tales from the Captain's Table anthology, by Christie Golden
  • Full Circle by Kirsten Beyer

No, there are no references to String Theory in Full Circle. I'd read String Theory anyway, as it was very good, but you can get on with Full Circle. :)

But there is a reference to Kirsten Beyer's short story in the Distant Shores anthology "Isabo's Shirt" which is also set during the series.

Thanks! I do wish he looked a little less depressed - but Pilot couldn't really smile all that well, so c'est la vie. (Man, I miss Farscape...)
