Do male cats kill male kittens to get rid of competition? I heard that happens in the wild, but not sure if it is just an urban legend or not. Not sure what that is all about.

If mama kitty attacked him then he's not the father. Male cats will sometimes kill all the kittens (not just the males) so the prospective mate isn't wasting energy on offspring that isn't his. Lions do this, too. It's not unlikely that he's already gotten one or two. The behavior mostly shows up in barnyard or feral cats.

Kitty sits and waits to be fed in the morning, still. But touching her is damn near impossible--she meows AND hisses. And she looks pregnant, but that could be that I leave the food out for her and she's eating a lot.

If she IS pregnant, then afterwards, I'll find out how to trap her, get her fixed, and let her go. Not in time to stop this litter, but can prevent others.

I had this problem for a couple of years until several months back. They kept showing up with new kittens and I was torn as to what should be done. One day, they all suddenly stopped coming around... so I'm pretty sure they were all caught. It's nice to not have to spend all kinds of money (I don't have) on food for 20 cats now, but I wonder what happened to them... sigh.
