Spoilers Stranger Things - Season 4

From Variety:

The long promotional campaign for “Stranger Things” Season 4 added a harrowing new wrinkle on Saturday with a first look at the “Creel House” — i.e. the home of new character Victor Creel, played by 1980s horror icon Robert Englund (“A Nightmare on Elm Street”). Creel has been imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital since his family was violently murdered in the 1950s, which Creel blamed on a vengeful demon.

Of course, no one believed him at the time, but since Creel is a character on “Stranger Things,” it seems safe to say the Upside Down has been haunting Hawkins far longer than anyone realized.

Englund, however, doesn’t appear in the preview; instead, it starts with a flashback of the Creel family moving into their gorgeous new home in the 1950s. But then lights begin to flicker mysteriously. The daughter finds a disemboweled bunny on their front lawn. And suddenly, Creel’s children are laying collapsed on the floor, while he stares, ominously, at the front door.
So, yeah. The Upside Down is definitely to blame.

You know the first teaser had a Scooby Doo vibe and this one is making me think of Poltergeist but both are connected to ghosts and Poltergeist was about homes built over something dark which turned out to be graves that hadn't been moved. In this it might be a connection to the Upside Down.

I've been out all day so I'm just only seeing this!

I need this season NOW!

Wow! I would love to have this as an actual poster!

Edited to add that the Twitter account has posted a video with all of the episode titles...and that the season will drop in the summer of 2022. :wah:

Not sure about the year S4 is set in, but I would like the showrunners to do something different (i.e. subvert expectations) with Mike and Eleven--like have their adolescent relationship fail to hold together. The Duffers once asked (paraphrasing) how many teenage relationships last (which I believe was addressing a question about Lucas and Max), and their reply was valid, because most do not. It would be refreshing if THE couple of the show just did not work out as they are all moving closer to adulthood.

Season four is set in the spring of 1986. That's mentioned in one of the videos that was released yesterday (might have been the teaser itself).

That would be a decent arc for them--having their "break up" and after an interpersonal struggle (middle of the season), choosing to remain friends at the end. That would work as long as the show shows the awkwardness of moving on from your teenage boy/girlfriend.

At long last, we finally have a release date! Two of them, in fact:

Edited to add:

Netflix's Facebook page has gone into further details:

Stranger Things fans, at long last we can finally reveal when the new season will be premiering!!

Stranger Things 4 is coming to you in two parts: Volume 1 premieres May 27 and Volume 2 quickly follows on July 1.

Not only is Stranger Things 4 going to be the most intense season so far, but it’s also going to be the biggest! Nearly every episode is super-sized — literally! That means Season 4 is 2x as long as Season 3!

And the reason Season 4 is so jam-packed with new locations, new characters, and the biggest threat yet is because these episodes set up the show’s final act!

Yes, Season 5 will be the epic conclusion to this story — which is how the creators have always envisioned it.

While this chapter is coming to an end, the Duffers believe there are more new adventures and stories to be told.
The post also has more posters.

Sounds like spin-offs will be coming. My favorite idea is still Steve Harrington in college with a bunch of friends dealing with alien encounters. Also maybe some humans stuck in the upside down having to find ways to survive.
