Spoilers Stranger Things - Season 3

Lego is releasing a magnificent 2287-piece set of the Byers household, complete with an Upside Down version below it! The level of detail is amazing!
That car! I need to get it for that car alone. Love it. Hope it's not too huge.
Thank you for the link!

I saw a weird merchandise in the shop the other day - the Christmas lights as a neck chain ;)

Just found this on the Lego shop site (and then on YouTube since they didn't have a direct link I could use):

Well, it is 2287 pieces (compare that to Saturn V's 1969 pieces)...

The price tag is the only thing that's keeping me from ordering it right now ($200!).

I saw the story about the set on Io9 last night, that thing is insane. The commercial is hilarious.

They just released the first clip, Summer in Hawkins

Hopefully Billy will be less obnoxious than last year. But at least they're keeping up with the...chemistry between him and Mrs. Wheeler. Which is something. I suppose.

I heard about the New Coke inclusion (A.V. Club practically had an aneurysm over it ), but I hadn't seen the faux ad. I love how Dustin crashed Steve's date.

I have to confess, I am almost tempted to try to see if I can track down a can of New Coke. After hearing stories about it practically my whole life, I'm curious to see what it's like.

I vaguely remember Coke II back in the day. Hopefully it'll be easier to find than Crystal Pepsi was a couple years back!

Huh, I could've sworn already knew that list. Certainly at least Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Croneberg films.

Yeah, I thought of the Caddyshack pool, too. I thought of The Sandlot as well but that's a different time setting.

The Duffers have revealed the movies that inspired Stranger Things 3.
  • Fast Times at Ridgemont High
  • The Thing
  • Romancing the Stone
  • Midnight Run
  • Indiana Jones
  • Jurrasic Park
  • The Films of David Cronenberg

Fast Times (the social laughs, insecurities and screw-ups of high school), and The Thing (a character being consumed / replaced by an alien imitation) are pretty predictable, only it might not be a stretch to think The Thing influence will not be limited to Billy, the resident bully/asshole, but one of the core young characters.

Well for me I think the main take away from 'The Thing' wasn't just the Cronenbergian body horror of a person being transformed into a monster, but the paranoia of a small group of people trapped in an enclosed environment with a threat they can't see until it's too late.

Visions From the Upside Down: A Stranger Things Artbook, a gorgeous 304-page art book, is coming out October 15! This io9 article includes an exclusive look at the artwork.

I would be shocked if we didn't get at least one sequence with the kids being chased by a monster through the closed and locked mall.

July will be a great month for Netflix originals.

Edit: What happened to the Orange is the New Black threads? Going back a year in the TV and Media thread I can't find it and nothing comes back on search.
