My take on the SNW LD Crossover "Those Old Scientists":
- It's a love letter to Star Trek as a whole, the 2 series too, crafted in a way to progress the respective characters and arcs of each show and lots of emotions of all sorts (joy, sadness, laughter...).
- awesome telented people infront and behind the camera, writting, directing and all of that.
- It does not feel cheaply cobbled together fan service checklisty messy.
- An instant all time favorite for me to rewatch many times in the future.
My only complaint about the episode is that there wasn't more Beckett.
I can't believe they are going to waste 1 of 10 episodes with a musical. Sorry, but in my opinion, that's just ridiculous. I'm going to pre-rate this a 1.

Unless you've already seen the musical, you don't actually know if it will be good either. Not all musicals are created equal. For every 'Phantom of the Opera' there's a "Love never dies"

I was 50/50 on this one going in. It was either gonna be amazing or a disaster.
It was wonderful. Sweet, heartfelt. Potentially devastating for poor Christine. Boimler's reaction to Young Spock and his realisation shit was happening between him and Chapel was brilliant. Chapel and Ortegas fucking with Boimler in the bar. Mariner meeting her hero. Boimler and Mariner's OTT selves translating so well to live-action. Pike long-suffering with even more unruly children running around on his ship. The SNW crew going into LD fanboy mode over the NX-01 crew. The Orion thing, taking the chip off Tendi's shoulder and using it. So much goodness.
