Strange move to reschedule the movie for May in my opinion..

Hey everybody,

just wanted to put some thoughts out there about the updated release date. Is May that much better a time to release the movie? I thought a christmas opening really showed how serious they were about this. Not to mention that with a finished script and shooting already proceeding, potential competition, like Angels and Demons was out of the way... The writers strike made it so that next christmas wouldn't be that crowded (at least that's my understanding). So I have to say, this kinda leaves me scratching my head a bit...

And if the film does not make alot of money in may the execs at Paramount will be scratching there head and bit wondering if they should have stuck with December.

Question is now does Star trek have a higher expectation for profit now that it is pushed to an early summer release vs. being a december release?

I'm no expert on the subject, but my take on it was the that it increasingly looked like the prospects of this film making ALOT of money were so high that they wanted to make it one of their summer tentpoles...summer releases usually make more money.

Well May is a bigger and busier month, so they obviously ARE serious about this movie.

Studios just don't put a movie onto their summer schedule unless they think it's going to have a lot of widespread appeal.

It will have legs thru may,makes more sense,besides xmas aint so good,not long enough.
