Strange Bedfellows (not the episode)!!!!

Which of these couples/pairings/close friends are odd to you or need some discussion?

I refrained from adding Sisko/Kasidy Yates, Kira/Bareil, Kira/Shakaar, Worf/Jadzia, Bashir/Ezri, Bashir/Leeta, Bashir/Melora, Bashir/Sarina and Odo/Arissa.

One might argue, that I should have included Odo/Arissa instead of Odo and Kira, but I wanted to keep the poll short. Both pairings are odd, but the relationship between Odo and Kira is real, they have feelings for each other. Arissa was a failure.

My oddest couple was Dukat/Anjohl and Kai Winn.

Which of these couples/pairings/close friends are odd to you or need some discussion?

The elements of secrecy and manipulation at least make it reasonable to Winn being attracted to Anjohl. Yes, they were super creepy, but I feel it worked for the plot.

OTOH, Ziyal and Garak bother me. They are far from being an odd couple, but their relationship smacks of writers brainstorming. Wouldn't it be funny of Garak dated Dukat's daughter? Meh. There's little fire, and I am never entirely convinced that Garak cares for her. Indeed, I might be off-put by some things Garak said if I were Ziyal, particular questioning her emotions.

Dukat/Winn. That was so wrong, it was just....wrong.

Dukat had his moments ..... until he turned into Anjohl. It was funny to see Winn's face when she finally realized whom she took into her bed....
Anjohl was insufferable, even more so than Pah Wraiths tainted Dukat.

I chose Quark and Grilka. A Ferengi and a Klingon... never thought I'd see the day.

Jake and Mardah were also odd. I guess it was more one of Jake's teenager crushs. A Dabo Girl hasn't much of a reputation. The biggest problem was that she was older than Jake, who found later (in the litverse) someone else.

On the other hand I don't like the negative attitude towards Dabo girls like `oh, she is just a Dabo girl, nothing else. She must be dumb´. Tough for Mardah that she was stuck on the station. I don't think that she earned much, considering Quark's payment morale.

Dukat and and Winn was profoundly uncomfortable to watch but in a way, I think that was the point

Odo and Kira finally got together, but this relationship never had a chance for lasting long. But Kira had still feelings for Odo when she let him go.
Any future encounters of them might be odd, though.

That's the main reason Dabo girls even exist at all - to distract customers and make them lose.

My favorite is Quark/Grilka pairing, it was really absurd but Quark did his best.

I find Winn/Anjohl relationship quite logical under the circumstances. He took advantage of her grudges, envy and vanity so she lowered her defenses.

Garak/Ziyal relationship was quite unconvincing, never managed to figure whether they liked each other, or were the only Cardassians on the station. Garak did not seem to take her seriously and she totally missed the nuances of his banter.

Odo and Kira were too different as species and personal agendas to keep their relationship.

Jake/Mardah relationship was not meant to evolve, Jake was too young, she had other plans. I guess Jake got attracted by her looks while Mardah liked that he was not the usual customer at Quark’s.

Her lobes must be tiny. Female Ferengi have small lobes as is, but a hybrid... but that nose. Thick and wide with creases and ridges between the eyes. That's got to be an epic schnoz.

DS9 had a few of these, and some are absolutely wonderful in their intentional strangeness (Dukat and Winn being the most poignant, I think, but the far more benevolent fare such as Rom and Leeta is also grand) while a couple of others are insufferable (Sisko and Fenna; that's my least favorite episode right there).

Kira and Odo, as two of my five favorite characters in Trek and certainly my favorite Trek romance, never even registers in this fashion. I just think of it as deeply beautiful.

I'm at a loss as to which way to vote, so I just voiced my thoughts.

I appear to be the first to choose Odo and Kira. I felt it the strangest because I never thought Kira would to for it. It felt to me like pandering to the hapless lovelorn teenage boy who desperately wants to see the outcast make it with his fantasy girl.

I don't think that way, but finally someone voiced his opinion about the two. I love their deep friendship, but a relationship????. On the other hand, I grant Odo a partner. I must admit, I had my difficulties wrapping my mind around the fact that they share such deep feelings. But it was more surprising than annoying.
