Stormtrooper Armor In Star Wars Movies. Are Changes Necessary?

^ In retrospect, I think the original film might have been improved by R2 uncovering at least some other Rebel prisoners from the Tantive IV in cells near Leia's, who could have died heroically creating distractions to help the main cast get away. The fact that R2 evidently discovered none and that Tarkin didn't mention sparing or exploiting them in some way could be used to argue that by that point they had already been dispensed with in some manner. Right away, Vader broke the neck of the one among them who probably knew the most. I get the feeling that by that point, he was getting frustrated with the relatively low-level Rebels he was having to sift through. Certainly, to keep the secret base secret, the Rebels hadn't been careless in letting people having knowledge of its whereabouts get captured.

Tarkin seemed to have been stalling on Leia's execution due to her having knowledge they might find useful. The rest of the Rebels were likely executed as traitors to the Empire once they got to the Death Star.

^I'm pretty sure none of them even made it off Tantive IV alive. Remember Vader ordered his officer to send a fake distress signal and inform the senate that all aboard were killed.
Granted it looks like the senate was dissolved only a day or two later, but the implication remains.

Actually, that seems to bring up the question as to whether Vader had any foreknowledge that the Emperor was going to finally do away with the senate. If he did then why bother with the ruse? If he didn't then it implies he really wasn't all that close in Palpatine's council. Indeed between that and him being put under the command of Tarkin indicates that Vader was in the dog house even before he lost the Death Star to a bunch of bush pilots and Clone Wars vets.

Is it possible the senate didn't buy the story (possibly thanks to Bail?) and the dissolution was in response to a mass uprising by the senators? Maybe destroying Alderaan had as much to do with that than coercing the location of the rebel base out of Leia. That always did seem like overkill, but in this light it makes a little more strategic sense.
