Finally, the one thing many fans in North American have been waiting for: an all-in-one collection of Star Trek: The Next Generation on Blu-ray. While we've been touting availability (and economic savings) of the region-free UK box set that's been available since December 2014, we know there are those of you who didn't want to import the collection from overseas.

At the current Amazon price of $208.99 that is $ 29.85/season for HD.
this is why lower price:
will not feature the Season 3 visual effects feature exclusive to Best Buy, nor will it contain the five standalone discs ("The Best of Both Worlds," "Redemption," "Unification," "Chain of Command," or "All Good Things...") or their respective bonus material.
as Trekcore mentions in the link above.

As I mentioned earlier this week on the Trek feature film subforum
Come 2017 CBS (Paramount) will run out of product to release for home video unless they start putting out Blu-ray best of 10 episode blu-ray TV packs.
With TOS, TNG, TAS, and STII:TWOK out of the way from the back catalog of Trek CBS Home video has not other option for 2018 but to use DS9 or the other first 9 feature films for home video releases.
One reason CBS Home Video may be putting all these out is they may pull streaming from Hulu and Netflix and only allow streaming on their CBS All Access subscription platform. Some people would rather buy the physical media instead.

I think CBS really needs to get the shows on store shelves. It's been over 3 years since I last saw, aside from the movies, any of the Star Trek TV shows on store shelves in my area. And it's probably been closer to 10 years since I saw the DVD's for TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise on store shelves, and I'm talking stores like Wal-mart. Even during the Boxing week sales I never see any of the season sets in the stores. Even with the Blu-Ray's, CBS had all 3 seasons of TOS on the shelves in my area, and then TNG the first 3 seasons were on physical store shelves, with all the single-disc movies appearing till "Chains of Command", and then the stores stopped carrying them, even on release day. So I've got to wonder how CBS expects the "impulse shopper" to buy the Trek DVD's and Blu-Ray's when they are never on store shelves.

If somebody already has all seven seasons, what would be the benefit of getting this set?

If there's no demand, stores simply aren't going to waste the shelf space. Though my local Walmart, has the TOS collection that was just released on DVD.

Some of that might have been down to the retailers, why put something on a shelf when you might only sell a dozen copies of it when you could put something in that space which might sell a hundred copies.
