Stimulant of Choice

pop, you must be from the Midwest like me. ;)

Illinois. :)

I am from Chicago but the only regional dialect thing I've ever been self-conscious about is "pop" so I haven't said it since I was about 14! People made fun of me for it in California.

I have no stimulant of choice. Stimulants are awful and I am too sensitive to them. I get insomnia, irritability, jittery, and grind my teeth in my sleep. Even a single cup of coffee will wreck my nervous system for at least 24 hours.

I have never done crack, meth, speed, or any sort of prescription stimulants. I went skiing once or twice in college and that was pretty stupid/useless and I didn't get the appeal. I couldn't imagine having that be your stimulant of choice, either.

I'm still in IL so I don't get made fun of much, except maybe online. But I don't really care, and people know what I'm talking about, so I don't feel the need to change.

Coffee, coffee and coffee. :)

I really do take my black. People look at me weird when I order it that way or go grab some from the break room.

I've been drinking it that way for a decade. It's really my only vice.

But, I also like Dr. Pepper. :techman:

Black for me too. Also, while I don't drink soda regularly when I do indulge I go with Dr. Pepper. :)

Tea. Hot or cold, nothing in it. That is my stimulant drink of choice, and really the only thing I drink outside of Fiji water and S. Pellegrino... And a glass of good scotch each night.

I live in New Mexico and ppl say "pop" here all the time but I'm from Cali so it seems odd to me I want to laugh every time I hear it.

I'm from Texas, and we say 'coke' for any type of sugary, carbonated beverage.

I went to Wisconsin for an RA convention where people gathered from all over the country, and had the following conversation.

Me: Excuse me, but we're out of coke. (Meaning Dr. Pepper).

Some Guy: Hey, we're out of pop. Can someone help?

Some Some Girl: We're out of soda? Yeah, I'll go get someone.

Some Other Guy: So, you said they were out of cola? Why don't you just drink Coke instead?

Me: I don't like Coke. I like Dr. Pepper. Besides, they'll be back here pretty quick.

I'm from Illinois and live in Oklahoma. I swear I have actually heard this:

"What would you like to drink?"

"I'll take a Coke."

"What flavor?"

"Dr Pepper."

Usually it's strong coffee. I prefer Intelligentsia, but it gets pricey after a while. At work it's always whatever is available.

On my own, when there's time and I'm not going crazy doing a million things, I prefer Trader Joe's Mango Black Tea. Either hot, or iced. Refreshing, delightful, and tasty. WIN.

Just curious, why that particular water?
