STID vs. E.T. emotional scenes through glass

I liked both films.
J.J. Abrams STID has Spock talking to dying Kirk through a glass window and Steven Spielberg's E.T. has Elliott talking to "deceased" E.T. through a glass window too. I just like the direction of both these very emotional death scenes.

Yeah the scene it was completely lifted from clearly has no relation. Funny how ET and Khan were released the same month!
