This summer's sequels have almost all been hits to one degree or another, while the efforts to launch new big budget franchises have mostly failed, some spectacularly so.
Not going by this. On 15 August are openings in Argentina and Chile, then Japan on 23 August, and that's everybody.Does anybody know after Japan if there are anymore openings left?

Just got back, wonderful movie!my girlfriend was amazingly exited, she WANTS to see it again.
im ready to organize a group and watch it again on friday. The 3d was actually good
I dont get why it wasnt a larger hit in the US, "far better than all the other summer flicks and better than the TDKR" and this came from my girlfried who loved FF6 and is not a trekkie yet![]()

And that's a damn shame. I like new stuff.![]()
That's why huge international grosses are the aim for tentpole films these days. They may eventually cut back a bit on the number of tentpole releases a bit, though, if there's too much cannabilization. Next year looks to have fewer mega-budget films than this year, although, as you say, 2015 is shaping up to be insanely competitive. The domestic market just cannot infinitely expand to support all these productions.
Most of the flops will probably continue to be the attempts to launch new franchises, while sequels continue to be a (mostly) safe bet. I expect tentpole releases to become even more heavily focused on extending existing franchises through sequels, prequels and spin-offs.Some will lose money and some will flop big time.
Only then will we get to see more "new stuff".
I expect there to be some superhero crashes coming as there is just too much out there planned.
Great that you finally got to see it and that you enjoyed it.
Is the interest big for Star Trek in Venezuela?
The last TREK movie made only $ 500.000.
Most of that was from showings at dollar theaters, though. The last TREK movie made only $ 500.000.
Five hundred dollars? Damn!![]()

I'll echo that... it's still in the dollar theaters here BTW. Just think that STiD was a much better all around movie. OTOH Trek 09 was restarting a franchise, much like Casino Royale with James Bond, and more people were interested in the outcome - seemed as if just as many people wanting it to fail as to succeed. One thing I did think about before was that I saw this film about three times, but I saw Trek 09 double that. It feels like Trek 09 was more of an event and was in cinemas longer, even though I thought ID was a better movie.

Not a typo - it is usual in Spanish speaking countries to use . where we anglophones would use , as a seperator in large numbers.
Clancy_s did note that such was the custom in Spanish-speaking countries. (I suspect that the country in which you were taught to use a space is not one of these.)^That's not strictly true you don't have to use a comma or a decimal place. I was taught you use a space i.e. 10 000, 1 000 000.
