Steven Moffat is on twitter (temporarily)

I didn't expect the phildickian twist in "Pompadour." But it makes me wonder...

River's mind exists in a computer. The Doctor's mind, if Colin Salmon's Doctor Moon is the last Doctor, exists in a computer. And now, we learn that Reinette's mind exists within a computer. If only there were some way the Doctor, River, and Reinette could all be happy together forever in a mainframe somewhere.

I smell a potential "Big Finish" story

"Ghost in the Machine" ?

There actually exists a story with such a title, But, its a Companion Chronicle and its a Third Doctor tale, so probably not what you meant.

Next tweetalong is "The Fires of Pompeii" with Tracey Childs, James Moran, and Francesca Fowler.

Pity no Tennant or Tate...or Capaldi or Gillan.

...or even McCoy or Langford. ;)

A little different but Emily Cook has a marvelous conversation with Jon Culshaw, where she challenges him to do impressions in the order of A-Z (although he cheats a little here and there). Besides the obvious ones (Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker), he also does a brilliant Morgan Freeman as The Doctor.

I gotta say...I'm pretty disappointed. Some of the impressions were pretty good (Culshaw, obvioiusly, although his Fifth was a bit weak) while others rather flat and unremarkable. But the really disappointing part was the script. I usually love James Goss' work for Big Finish but this one pretty one noted and relied too heavily on each of The Doctors' catchphrases. I did, however, love the twist with the cat pictures and it took The War Doctor to figure it out.

Well, that was... insubstantial. And the impressions were quite a mixed bag. Four and Ten were dead on, the others not so much. Five was the worst, followed by, ohh, Twelve.

The Second, Third, Sixth, Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh impersonations were all uncannily good. Especially the Third, Culshaw was uncanny there, why haven't BF employed him as the Third Doctor on full capacity? Anyway, the rest are OK, though Culshaw's Fifth was, actually, rather poor. And surprisingly, his Fourth wasn't that impressive either. But it was lovely to have Bradley there.

As for the skit... well, for a freebie, it was fine. I wish they'd gotten the actual actors, but whatever. It probably didn't live up to the hype, though.

Interesting how different people hear different things. I thought all of those except Ten were pretty weak (well, Eleven was sometimes pretty good, but inconsistent), and Three was one of the weakest. It was too exaggerated.

Whereas I thought it was uncanny. I actually stopped to look up the article to remind myself whether Tom Baker was actually in this.

I agree the Pertwee one isn't as samey as he was on the show, as impersonations of that kind tend to focus on getting the voice right but not a performance out of it. That being said, I did feel his Three captured the later, older Pertwee, from The Five Doctors and two audio plays. And Thomson is superlative as Troughton, even though he sounds like a younger Troughton because of his inflection.

I'd listen to all the Fourth Doctor-Leela audio plays last year, and once you do you do get a sense of the subtlety of Tom Baker's voice and mannerisms. I'd heard Culshaw do the Fourth Doctor elsewhere (including Big Finish's The Kingmaker), but this time the voice just seemed too mimickry.
