Stephen Hawking dies aged 76

Possibly the greatest genius of our time. Cheesy as it may be, my fondest memory of him is playing poker with Data, Einstein and Newton!
Nothing cheesy about it. His appearance on ST:TNG was his own idea, as was his "Vomit Comet" flight.

Requiscat in pace.

Oops, I should clarify: I meant that when I heard of his passing I thought it was cheesy that my mind immediately went to that holodeck scene. Instead of, say... first thinking of his many achievements in the fields of science and physics.
Glad to hear he asked to be on Star Trek TNG. Seems like a mutually beneficial bit of history. I wonder if he asked the writers to throw in that bit of shade against Albert Einstein for having disproved some of his theories.

He was such a great man. He was the exemplar of determination. How he managed to survive all this time in such a crippled state. His desire to pursue essential knowledge for humanity's sake was supremely admirable. And his sense of humor was delightful. He will be missed.

I was really dismayed to hear some news programs recite some of his celebrity appearances, leaving off The Big Bang Theory. Stunning how they would do that. TBBT had many of his funniest moments.
