STEAM Summer Sale 2012

^I stress Half-Life 2: Deathmatch is in my "Junk" category. Any by "Junk" I mean games I'm either never going to play, or played once and never intend to again. I love HL2 but DM games generally do nothing for me.

...actually, after checking, I misspoke. HL2-DM isn't in my junk category at all. Neither is Counter-Strike 2. I must have been feeling generous...that or TF2 & L4D were looking lonely in the multiplayer cat all by themselves. :p
I only picked up Crusader Kings 2 and Audiosurf, can't you people control yourselves? :p

Apparently not! The way I see it, it's better to buy twice the normal amount of entertainment products in a six months at a quarter the price, than the normal amount at full price. You get twice as many games and don't even spend half as much. It's like duty free for games, except you don't have to feed your mates' alcohol and tobacco habits. :p

I haven't bought anything yet, so I got you beat. :p

(Although... the Civ 5: Gods and Kings expansion is currently 25% off... and I doubt it will be any lower in the near future.)

OK, someone had better take my mouse away from me or something because for a moment there I actually considered getting a steam copy of Arkham City (which I already have a retail copy of) just so I can get the DLC packs from there instead of having to faff around with GfWL...

That's probably as low as Steam will go until the winter sale. If you like Civ5 and have the money then get it, it doesn't just add religion and espionage, it rebalances and improves the whole game. Some people that disliked the vanilla game on release for lacking the depth of Civ 4 have even gone as far as to say that Gods and Kings brings the game to about parity with Civ4 Beyond the Sword, which is a major turnaround in opinion.

I almost bought Civ3 Complete the other day because I had a nostalgic itch to play it again but my disc drive doesn't work properly these days, and €1.49 was a very tempting price... But instead I ripped the discs to my laptop, transferred the image files to my desktop PC and installed it that way. I'm not giving them money for something I already own. :p

You're not alone.....

;)

Frozen Synapse: Complete Pack
Serious Sam 3 BFE
Trine 2
Dungeon Siege I, II, III with Treasures of the Sun DLC
Double Fine Bundle (Psychonauts, Stacking, Costume Quest)
Fallout New Vegas Ultimate
Fallout 3 - Game of the Year
Magicka Complete Pack
Rayman Origins

I ended up with:

Assassin's Creed Pack (all the games)
Arkham City + DLC
Bioshock 1 and 2
Borderlands
Left for Dead 2
Legend of Grimrock
LIMBO
Mirror's Edge

I had previously played a couple of these (first AC, first Bioshock, most of Mirror's Edge) but all in all I only spent around 70 dollars and I'm fairly certain I'll get my money's worth.

I'm tempted to buy Civ2 on ebay or something because it doesn't work properly and I kind of am really, really nostalgic (I never played Civ1 or else I'd want to play that on occasion).

Overall I only managed to spend about 80 bucks. Bought the id pack, Civilization V (its about time I saw what all the hype was about) and Crysis 2 Maximum Edition

Not sure if I posted this already, lawl. But I ended up with:

TES III: Morrowind GOTY
TES IV: Oblivion GOTY
TES V: Skyrim (gifted)
The Witcher: Enhanced Edition
The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition
Jade Empire: Special Edition
Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition

I'm surprised they haven't put Civ2 up on GOG or Steam, especially following the hype of that Eternal War story a few months back. They'd just need to do an official patch to fix the 64-bit compatibility issues and sell it for a few dollars, it would almost certainly make a return on the investment and gamers would have easy access to a classic game.

My Civ2: Test of Time disc still works, I installed that a few months back and have started a couple of games since then but never finished any. The nostalgia is strong, I'm surprised how easy it was to slip into after all these years, but I'm constantly fighting against the interface, and lot of the old mechanics seem silly compared to the modern games. It's nice to revisit, but I'm left to wonder how I spent so many Saturday afternoons engrossed in such a basic game.

Civilization V (its about time I saw what all the hype was about)
That's how most addictions start.

I love Civ2. I keep a copy on every computer I own. Such a great game. It's just complex enough to offer endless replayability, without the overhead of the more modern versions.

But did they ever patch the horrible naval AI? Computer players build up these massive fleets that they never actually do anything with. Makes sea routes kind of annoying.
