Stealing is alright aslong as its done for the thrill and not money?

Re: Stealing is alright aslong as its done for the thrill and not mone

Good call-- and additionally we should probably stop kids singing ring a ring a roses too

QI has ruined everything. I would have laughed at that, now all i can think about is how the rhyme is nothing to do with the black death. Damn you Stephen Fry!

Oh no, now its ruined it for me too! Damn you Silent Bob! :guffaw:

What's it actually refer to then?

If i recall correctly it doesnt refer to anything. No more than say "Round and round the garden like a teddy-bear" refers to a real life Bear attack. The lyrics dont match the symptoms of the Bubonic plague, nor the treatment suggested and the "all fall down" bit is actually a curtsy rather than a literal falling over. Also the sheer number of varient forms of the rhyme apparently indicates that the current version is unlikely to be anything like the original.

QI also informs us that the Earth has several moons. I just dont know what to believe anymore

And Bugs Bunny for never ever taking that left turn at Albuquerque. For God's sake, use Mapquest!

Bugs Bunny should have turned left, but he met a strange fortune teller and now there is something on his back.

Very bad message to put across on a kids show, surprised there havent been more complaints. What do you guys think??

I just didn't like her character.

As for the stealing, well, I don't think the Doctor cared about it one way or another. Thats what he said. I do think she would have made a bad companion, because her sole motivation in going with him was an adreniline rush. She just wan't the usual companion type. Not the innocent earther, and the wonder stricken girl. Those are a bit more interesting, and relate better to the audience.

Also, it would have been better if he simply told her that she could not come with him, and did not explain further. It would have made for better fiction.

Frankly, with all the running and time-hopping the Doctor does, 250 [charges of evading library fines] seems to be disappointingly low for an immortal, supposedly well-read Time Lord criminal :)

Maybe he buys most of his books with all of the money that he routinely counerfeits (SEE "The Long Game" or "The Runaway Bride").

As socially irresponsible as making a show whose hero is a hypocrite who preaches non-violence but has commited FUCKING GENOCIDE on multiple occasions?

It does bug me when the Doctor gets so self righteous about his refusal to kill. "The Doctor's Daughter" was the worst. And if he really gave a shit about Earth, he would have let Jack try to snap the Master's neck while he had the chance in "The Sound of Drums."

Part of the Doctor's problem is that he is so arbitrary in terms of whom he saves & whom he allows to die. He lets Cassandra "die" in "End of the World" but tries to save the Daleks in "Evolution of the Daleks." He seemed disinclined to save the Roman family in "The Fires of Pompeii" yet "Rose" tells us of an instance when he warned a family not to go onto the Titanic.

And if you are going to complain about the Doctor Who easter special, shouldnt everyone be complaining week after week about Robin Hood? Afterall he steals and assaults people! Very bad message to put across on a kids show.

He is violently resisting an evil, corrupt government. You can't get more heroic than that.

Oh well played, Badger; well played indeed! Have a jelly-baby-cookie.
