AICN also claims more time than that has passed since the incident. Meaning the 3 days was maybe a massacre that people are referring to later on. Maybe because of this, they decided to serve her up to the public
Maybe it's some new Syntha-PCP they are trying out and it got away from them.
"first three days of war" is directly from the trailer, unless a different line replaces it tomorrow when it airs, that's rather clear.

It all makes sense.
* Burnham is sentenced for mutiny almost immediate after the incident.
* No month long trial, or time for the defense to prepare her case. No defender at all in fact.
* Shipped off to do hard labor North Korea style.
* Everybody have heard about her, so we can assume that the Federations privacy protections have gone the same way their rights to a fair trial went.
This is the darkest timeline, where the Federation has turned into a quasi military dictatorship!

Again, they might be referring to the first 3 days of the war but AICN claims:
"A fair amount of time has passed since the destruction of the Shenzhou"
Burnham's hair and the fact that Saru has already been reassigned to DSC when she gets there seems to point to more than a few days having passed.
Which then makes the line sloppy and meaningless. Because surely they total dead would be higher than the first three day total. Why single out the first three days?
Gotta say, it looks like Battlestar Star Trek.
It's oh so dark and gritty, it looks like the producers are taking every chance they get to say: "This isn't your dads Star Trek! Look at how dark and gritty we are!"
Just a shame that they're a few years too late, and "dark and gritty" sci-fi has been done to death already. No wonder they're failing to get younger viewers aboard according to the ratings.

Maybe starfleet didn't mobilize fast enough. Maybe the Klingons hit civilian targets in those 3 days. I'm just guessing though. Even with sloppy writing, and her confession, they still have to go through court martial proceedings, don't they?
We don't know how long it was between the Battle of the Binary Stars and the actual Tribunal - we don't know how long it took them to get back to Earth (they were on the frontier, so presumably a relatively significant amount of time) and we don't know how long it took for the case to proceed and the sentencing we saw at the end of 1x02.
I'd even hazard a guess that the sentencing to the work colony might be a cover to get her off the table - if they had simply pardoned her, then that would have gotten out and would have been bad publicity but this means the public at large would consider that she's on some godforsaken planet somewhere.

Why would they have to go back to Earth? We've seen court-martial and legal proceedings take place at Starbase facilities. There was a Starbase just three light-years from where the battle took place.
The trailer for episode 3 shows someone placing one of those cylinders Stamets was holding into a console, which pumps the glittery powder into a chamber Burnham is in. Followed by some weird effect that might be a hallucination kicking off on her part.
Now we're shown a wall of them, were he takes one out, disappears into a sealed secret room and exposes himself to it (all over his shoulders) then placing it back again. In a wall that's a part of the warp reactor assembly?

We've been told, in interviews, that the fungus/glitter exists partially in a subspace dimension and is used as part of the vessels propulsion system - ergo the presence of the fungus/laboratory/isolation chamber in the engineering room. I'm guessing the glittery substance in the air in the isolation chamber that Burnham's in, and which is on Stamets' shoulders, is residue from the fungus - and the cylinders are essentially batteries containing fungal residue to power the engines.
1st generation gel-pack tech or something similar perhaps.

Maybe they are working on a bio-weapon because they are hopelessly outmatched. Starfleet is starting to reek of Section 31. Maybe the DSC registry predictions were true. Maybe part of the story is pulling Starfleet itself back into the light.
