STC EP1 - Behind the Scenes ft. Vic Mignogna

STC were always so focused on delivering their amazing content that it was almost a shame that we missed out on some of the behind the scenes action, so I'm very pleased that they have the opportunity to speak about the production of each episode a little more in-depth.

I certainly understand where Vic is coming from with regards to people not holding the same 'work ethic' or professional integrity as him. I think we probably have very similar opinions on that kind of thing - people not keeping promises or deadlines, pulling out of shoot dates with little notice to take on last minute paid work instead, or allowing involvement to sit on the back burner because its just not a priority for them.

However - I've found that when YOU have a passion project like this, other people are OBVIOUSLY going to hold different levels of regard for it. Some people think that the experience is the air that gives them life! Some people see it as just a bit of fun. Some people are only doing it because they owe you a favour. And some people are there because they are emotionally bound to because they're related to you.

Saying that though, I don't think that is limited to the difference between doing something for free (volunteering) and being paid. In my experience, people can be just as poorly organised on professional, paid shoots as well.

Not sure I agree, if you give your word you should keep it, particularly when other people are depending you. I don't really see how other deadlines or other paying jobs effect your commitment; at least in my opinion.

Oh no, I'm completely on the same page with you there. I agree wholeheartedly.

I was just describing, from my experience, the 'thought-process' behind other people. The last film shoot I did, a crew member I had locked in over a month prior, pulled out three days before the first shoot day because a last minute paid job came up and that took priority for them. I had to...encourage...them to find a replacement for me, considering they going to leave me high and dry, which they did. But that just didn't seem to cross their mind.

I've worked my share of pro shoots and I've never worked on one as disorganized as every amateur one I've worked. There's a minimal level of proficiency on pro shoots, mostly because those people do the work all the time and they know how to do it properly even when they're being lazy.

Also, the craft services is much better. ;) hee hee
