STC Ep. 7: "Embrace The Winds" speculation and discussion....

If this plays out it will really make Alec Peters look like even more of a loser than he already does--seeing STC deliver what they promised on (relatively modest) budget and ahead of original schedule.
Well remember - there's probably A LOT of post production work needed for each episode once principal filming in "in the can". My point? They may still stick to their original schedule to give their post production crew the time need to properly prepare these episodes for release.

Being a backer, I just got a sneak-peek photo of the planet set. It looks very nice. Apparently they're releasing the photo wide tomorrow. Definitely looking forward to this one!
Same.

Doesn't look like we get an early view of the episode though.

This is from a post on their FB page: "If you are a supporter, you will be sent a link on Friday September 2nd and it will be available on YouTube and our website on September 3rd."

Apparently Clare Kramer's character has been identified as "Commander Garrett." Not sure where that was announced, but STC has retweeted it so it must be public information.

Any relation to future starship Captain Rachel Garrett commanding the 1701C seen in TNG's "Yesterday's Enterprise?"

Coincidence or just had to get a callout in there?

Great Bird, I hope not.

Unfortunately it probably is. They love to play 'connect the dots continuity porn'. <--- I don't mind stuff like that in small doses, OR if it really is tied to a major plot point in a story they're telling, but IMO many Star Trek fan productions go a little overboard on it at times for my taste. I know many Star Trek fans who LOVE these 'connections' so YMMV.

I can't imagine it being a significant point one way or the other. Unless it's a time travel story, which it doesn't look to be, nobody will be mentioning Rachel Garrett. And Garrett is a fairly common Earth name, unlike, say, Xindi.

True. But to knowledgable Trek fans it draws attention to itself.

In fairness there really is no way to rationally tie it to Captain Rachel Garrett who won't be born for decades to come.

I'm willing to give STC far more leeway on the continuity porn than other productions; I could have seen P2/NV doing something like this for a major character. Assuming a name like Garrett to be a callback to Yesterday's Enterprise is more indicative of we fans reading more into it than anything.

This might be a stretch, but perhaps she is a relative or at least a nod to the Star Trek Online Character Admiral Isaac Garrett who is voiced by Vic Mignogna

However I think it is probably just a coincidence.
