It occurs to me tat Trek could be financed by government donations,given to some art academy to pass on to Hollywood,as Trek has spread USA culture all over the world,and generated billions,therefore by recognizing it as state institution,financing it from government funds would,remove any uncertainty and allow it to continue indefinitely as well as allowing exports of American culture to the back woods of the planet,thus promoting democracy,liberty and freedom with tolerance for alien values.
This would allow America to eventually democratize and educate the planet by the back door without expensive wars like the Irak war which has swallowed $500 billion,without any end in sight.
By making it a national institution like the Eiffel tower or the pyramids,you would more,than recoup the initial financial outlay.

Always viewed it as a waste of tax-payer dollars. Then again, I one of the few people that thinks things like Public Television and Public-Radio shouldn't be receiving funding the US.
If we did, it wouldn't need a subsidy. When something appears on PBS, it's an admission of failure - can't survive on its own in a free market.
