Starship Troopers

The funny part is that when I first saw the movie, I was absolutely convinced that Dina Meyer was the same actress who had played Ru Murleen in Rebel Assault 2.

I've only recently come to realize that's not the case....

I love this film on two levels. The hilarious satire of jingoism; and the visual references to loads of war movies.

It's even more relevant these days, I think.

Barely 2 or 3 posts reference the fact that we see Dina Meyer b00bs in this movie!

And here I thought we at the TrekBBS had our priorities right.... So disappointed!!

Sorry - had to state that...

Well, I prefer to see van Dien's butt in the shower scene... :)

Starship troopers is a sci-fi classic and a damn fine satire that's still relevant today. I love it and it looks superb on Blu-Ray disc.

I'm disappointed that we CANNOT see the redhead's chest at all (she's the one who says she wants to have babies) in that scene. :(

Least important, Heinlein bragged of bullying Russians more than once. And studying up on vulgar Russian insults ahead of time too.
=== As I recall the only "vulgar Russian insults" Heinlein ever spoke of was the word "uncultured", which at the time he visited russia with his wife was quite the shocker, Heinlein believed it as because russian thought of themselves as all that. Think Mister Chekov.

In terms of having to perform some form of service to be permitted to vote, Heinlein in later interviews explained that less than two percent of the voters gained "the franchise" through military service. It's also stated in the novel that most citizen don't perform an service and don't want to vote.

Heinlein wrote of many different societies and government systems, Friday show a anarchist america, Farmhams Freehold was a dictatorship. Charactors were soldiers, slaves, revolutionarys, spys and ship captains. And immortals too. You just can't point at Starship Troopers as a example of Heinlein's psychology.

And I thought the power armor was cool, Starship Troopers is the first book I can remember reading.
