true but armour is useful. ships hulls should be able to withstand quite a bit imo

Give me a material that can withstand multiple 65 isoton detonations at once without the crew inside getting blasted to bits or cooked from heat, and without making the ship too heavy or too dense and cheap enough to install on thousands, tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of ships, and I will throw on a dress and do a tap dancing routine.

^ I thought it was said in the episode that the enemy weapons were at full power though. The only reason it didn't do damage was because they enhanced structural integrity or something along those lines.

In TOS it was established in emergency situations the nacelles could be jettisoned.

It wouldn't let me edit my original post, don't know why, but I wanted to add that the Klingon ship's nacelles were significantly damaged and would require repair.
