Starship Ironsides

Man, it sucks that all these things happen far away from me. I'm way out in Arizona, with no car, no money to travel, and most productions seem to be on the East Coast. I'm on disability, so it's 24 hours a day of twiddling my thumbs for the last 13 years or so.

I would be interested in seeing some sort of writers' guide listing setting, major characters and personality descriptions, and any sets planned. Maybe I could try revamping some abandoned ideas I was developing in the 80s when trying to write spec scripts. ;)

could you get a grant to take classes and learn graphic design and do FX's

That's unlikely. My vision has been deteriorating over the last few years (cataracts, among other things), and I certainly can't afford high end software and a new machine. I have a 3d modeling and animation program, but it's not compatible with what's preferred for these things, and I'm not a good artist. I generally have to build anything I want to animate, and my results are not professional quality, though the software has been used by others professionally. And at 63, I'm not a young man anymore. Going back to school to actually take courses in it would be a rather hefty investment with no chance of practical returns.

There are a couple happening in Las Vegas. How far from Vegas are you? Excalibur is one of them...

Phoenix, but the real problem is being able to travel anywhere. I've not been out of this town in 20 years.
