Don't remember seeing that in the episode

But what we got in the Kelvin movies was translucent faces you could see through, and aspect ratio incompatibility on top of that

Yeah I agree, those first two movies did not have a good viewscreen overlay at all. But, man, does it look great in Beyond (30 seconds onwards).

Lmao I seriously, seriously don't understand some fans' aversions to bridge windows. You get all the tactical advantages of a viewscreen than can be overlayed on the window, plus the tactical advantages that come when systems are offline. You're on an exploration vessel, don't you want to be able to look outside?

Granted, the execution of visual effects can absolutely ruin the look of the bridge window but if pulled off well then it just looks way cooler than an ordinary viewscreen. And the rule of cool trumps all
A Bridge window would have made a big difference in the battle of the Mutara Nebula, hell even just sending some cadets with communicators to look out different windows around the ship would have helped...

That yellow box came and went depending on the shot (because they also used footage from The Cage), so I'm not sure it had anyone convinced the Enterprise had a window there. Especially as it's the wrong shape and too big..

I bet there are at least five projects out there that rescale the ship to make that window fit the bridge viewscreen :rommie:

In the weekly Star Trek Online livestream, Thomas Marrone announced ship classes from STO appear in PIC season 2.
These are:
Gagarin class: 25th century version of the Shepard class.
Reliant class: 25th century version of the Miranda class.
Sutherland class: 25th century version of the Nebula class.
Ross class: 2380s version of the Galaxy class. Saucer has stylistic elements from the Sovereign class. (I bet the Ross started out as a regular Galaxy, then received a major repair and refit. Captain Freeman observed the end result. ;))

There’s a side shot of the sovereign class that has some clear indications it’s the STO model like the bussard and warp grille textures

Thomas also thinks the Akira might be their’s

Thomas and Hector from Cryptic helped design the Stargazer. It was a collaboration between them, John Eaves and Doug Drexler

Really exciting to see some STO ships getting recognition. How awesome for the artists!

In the second shot below the Stargazer on the left, that looks to be the Gagarin. The ship directly above the Stargazer in the same shot listed as an Akira, I think that might actually be the T6 Reliant class from STO.

Watched the STO segment about how this came about on their stream. The gist of it, is it was kept secret for 2 years and it happened because Dave Blass happened to see a tweet about STO ships, which he liked. When production began he said there was a pull to wanting something "modern" while still being cost-conscious, so rather than reusing ships like the Miranda yet again, Blass convinced them to use ships from STO instead.

Which we were saying two years ago after seeing that wasted potential for the fleet! And they had 2 years to refine and make those models HD and they did a pretty damn good job if I say so! They are now canon and oh so good looking on the television!
