"Starship Deimos" (NCC-2787) is set on the U.S.S. Deimos, NCC-2787, a Phobos-class starship. This series features the adventures of a border patrol ship on the outreaches of Federation territory, near the Romulan, Tholian and Orion border.

This series is more action-oriented than our previous efforts. 2299 finds the United Federation of Planets on a precipice from which they may fall. Quadrant 9, Sector 72 is adjacent to a section of the Romulan Neutral Zone, colonies of the Orion Barrier Alliance, and seed worlds of the Tholian Assembly.

There are 43 Federation colonies in this region known as 'The Back Forty-ish.' The planets are basically agrarian, with a few scientific and medical outposts present. A tempting target for pirates, an easy 'back door' into the Federation for smugglers, and rich, tempting worlds for those wanting to expand their territory.

Deimos has been assigned to the sector to protect the Federation border. The vigilance and dedication of its crew are the only thing between those colonies and those who would do them harm.

The new Potemkin Pictures' Studio 3A has a Constellation-style bridge, a transporter room, a turbolift set, and a VIP lounge. Studio 3B houses a Sickbay set, a Klingon set, wardrobe and makeup. All sets were a bit smaller than the original, but certainly in the same style. We intend to build an officer's bunk in the coming weeks for a crucial shot.

We actually donated the Potemkin bridge sets to another fan film series when we moved to the Birmingham, Alabama area.

We kept the transporter console, background, platform and pie pans (no kidding). We also brought along the helm-navigation station as well as the turbolift doors and the sickbay bed. The Klingon set pieces were brought with us as well as a Romulan control unit. The rest of it was built from scratch, using the Constellation bridge as a guide, and using lumber mostly from the corridor sets. Monitors were donated, labor was donated. Many of the materials were donated.

The first rough take of D01-1 "Pas de Trois" has shown a few deficiencies that we will be correcting during a shoot on January 16th. We will also be doing ADR work to fix the problem created by a motorcycle enthusiast who disrupted the shoot for over an hour by riding his bike up and down the street. I guess he was hoping to get the attention of some of our cast rather than just being a complete ass.

Nice - cool to have a movie setting. Great ship as well! Not so sure about the casting - sorry - they don´t come across very likeable to me. But thats hard to judge based on a trailer. Maybe there´s a chance to choose some better shots later for an updated version.

Delighted to report that Starship Deimos will be filming this coming weekend. We have a fifteen minute episode, "The Archive," to film. We'll also be doing pickup-shots for "Pas de Trois," our first thirty-minute episode, and (time permitting) filming a short vignette, "Aftermath." This will take place here at Studio 3a and 3b here in Pelham, AL, from Friday until Sunday.

I think folks are going to end up loving the dynamics between the characters. YMMV, of course. ;)

I for one am looking forward to the expansion of the Character's backgrounds. So, the people who watch Starship Deimos, Tristan, Kupok, can grow with the characters!
