Starscape BBS is gone.

Hello Starscapers and TBBSers.

I hate saying this, but here it goes: Starscape BBS is gone. Not by purpose, not by me trying to fix something and screwing it up, it just started having technical issues, I'm not sure related to what, and then it was gone. Just *poof*, and that was it. All of my work, all of the work done by the Mods and Admins there, all of the posters who made it feel like home, all gone.

I had a board that I was tinkering around with some time ago, and I've made it our impromptu refuge.

You can get there by Starscape's URL (www.starscapebbs.com) or by it's URL (www.outworldbbs.net). If you were a member at Starscape, you'll have to re-register at Outworld. It's quick and painless, well as painless as it gets when one loses a home, even on the internet.

I'm not sure what I'll be doing over the next few days aside from working here in the real world, but I will do my best to make a home for those of us who want one. My sincerest gratitude to all, the staff who are my friends and who helped me make the big decisions, and the posters, who gave the board her life. Here's hoping we can find another grand lady, my friends.

I know, that sounds selfish of me, but I mean it mostly in jest. StarscpeBBS was a nice board, very friendly. It sucks that it's gone.

I'm sure the offer is probably only meant for John, but in fact I was seriously looking into starting my own, kind of in the same vein as Starscape.

I've been looking into the license fees for vbulletin, and trying to figure out host and bandwith "requirements" (or suggestions).

What the heck do you want to use vBulletin for? It's a decent board, but the free ones are quite competitive, too. phpBB, SMF, eBlah... there are lots of good, free ones. I have never found vBulletin to be all that spectacular, honestly.

Invisionfree was hosting it, but their backups were a bit too costly.
Zetaboard hosts the new board, and I've already scheduled a backup over the next couple of weeks.
